Chapter 5
- Lydia POV
- When Lilia and Alessandro exchanged rings, I could feel the eyes of some guests on me.
- They wanted to see me embarrassed, wanted to see me fight with Lilia for a man.
- But unfortunately, Alessandro had long been erased from my heart.
- Even when I met his gaze, all that remained in my heart was towering hatred and deep regret.
- After the wedding, Marcio left first, and I followed Norton back to Carmel pack, my former home.
- Everything in the villa looked no different from before, but the moment I stepped in, I felt a hostile gaze.
- A maid watering the plants smiled and greeted Norton, but deliberately ignored me.
- The girl behind her, carrying a dirty water basin, pretended to slip and tried to splash the dirty water on me.
- I just hid behind Norton, exclaiming, “How careless you are, you’ve wet Alpha Norton’s clothes!”
- “Sorry, Alpha Norton, I didn’t mean to!” The girl apologized in a panic.
- Norton, facing the servants, was quite patient: “It’s okay, just be more careful next time.”
- The two girls seemed relieved and left.
- But they hadn’t apologized to me yet. I crossed my arms and coldly said, “Stop.”
- Confused, Norton turned back to me and asked, “Lydia, what’s wrong?”
- “Both of you, one didn’t greet me and the other tried to splash water on me, don’t you have an explanation for that?” I ignored Norton and spoke for myself.
- The two girls, after glancing at Norton, straightened their backs. “Sorry, Miss Lydia, we didn’t understand what you were talking about.”
- The first one continued, “In the pack, we only bow to Alpha and Miss Lilia. You’ve just been released, we didn’t know how to address you.”
- The second one quickly added, “And I really did slip, it wasn’t intentional, Miss Lydia, you’re overthinking it!”
- Even Norton wanted me to let it go.
- But he didn’t consider how if I didn’t assert myself today, how many more people in the villa would try to step on me in the future.
- I stepped forward and slapped each of them.
- Slap—slap—
- The crisp sound of the slaps stunned both girls.
- When they came to their senses, the one who tried to splash me cursed, “You bitch, who do you think you are to hit me!”
- Norton also chimed in, “Lydia, you’ve gone too far!”
- “Was I too much?” I sneered, “Norton, if it was Lilia who got splashed today, would you still think it was too much?”
- Norton fell silent, and I made a mental note of the names of those two girls: “Noah, Nova, remember from now on in the villa, who the real boss is. Show me some respect when you see me! Otherwise, I don’t care who’s backing you up, I’ll kill you all.”
- With that, I went straight upstairs, with Norton chattering behind me.
- “Lydia, what just happened was an accident, it had nothing to do with Lilia.”
- I ignored him until I saw that my old room had been opened up and connected to Lilia’s to become a bridal chamber.
- Is this what Norton meant by making amends?
- Mia was furious, baring her teeth and wanting to tear apart the floral decorations in the room.
- I finally managed to calm her down, only to hear Norton say, “Lilia and Alessandro will be staying in Carmel for a few days, just the two of them, so…”
- “So?” I frowned angrily at Norton, “Don’t forget, that’s my room! That’s the room my parents personally decorated for me!”
- “Norton, is this your idea of compensation?!”
- I was about to say more when two more people came up the stairs.
- Alessandro rushed to respond to Norton, “Lydia, don’t push your luck!”
- “Don’t think that going to those three years for Lilia will make people think highly of you! You scumbag.”
- Those eyes that I once loved were now filled with suppressed anger.
- I chuckled, “Was I too much?”
- “Alessandro, this isn’t your San Jose pack, don’t think you can still force me like you did three years ago! I advise you not to provoke me again, or one day when I’m in a bad mood, I’ll have fun killing! And then, don’t cry!”
- Alessandro made a move to come forward, but was stopped by Lilia.
- “Let it go, Alex,” tears quickly welled up in her eyes.
- “I wasn’t really part of this family anyway, it’s okay, give the room back to Lydia, we’ll stay at a hotel!”
- Seeing how mature she was, Norton’s heart ached instantly, “Lilia, this is your home! You don’t have to go anywhere.”
- “Lydia.” Norton turned to me to discuss, but I cut him off.
- “Is this how you treat a benefactor? Don’t forget who took on everything in the beginning, who saved Lilia’s life.” I snorted coldly, looking at the three of them.
- Norton’s fist hanging by his side loosened and clenched, finally conceding, “You can sleep in my room, Lydia.”
- Feeling much better, I walked towards the room next to Lilia’s bridal chamber, not forgetting to pat Alessandro’s shoulder mockingly.
- “Remember to keep it down at night!”
- “I’m a light sleeper. If you wake me up, I might just have to ruin your beautiful wedding night!”
