Chapter 2

  • Lydia POV:
  • Three years, it’s been three years!
  • I will never forget the endless malice that came towards me, never forget the Christmas of the first year when a group of people broke into my dorm and cut off my right pinky finger.
  • My dream of becoming a designer was shattered at that moment, I could no longer hold a paintbrush, and all of this was at the behest of Norton and Alessandro!
  • The compensation Norton spoke of was all lies! He never wanted me to leave this prison alive!
  • They wanted to see me isolated and helpless, but fortunately, there has always been someone secretly helping me and leaving me a phone number.
  • And with my own fists, I became the Alpha in the prison, swearing to seek revenge.
  • Today is the day I am released.
  • No one knows how many heads I had to step on to get to where I am today.
  • As the guards led me out, the prisoners cheered for me, shouting my name.
  • “Alpha Lydia! Alpha Lydia!!”
  • I smiled and bid them farewell, and as the prison gates opened, I saw a Carmel pack car.
  • The car was decorated with flowers, looking out of place in the prison atmosphere.
  • “Miss Lydia.” The driver got out of the car and bowed to me, his face filled with joy.
  • I got into the back seat, opened my phone that had been collecting dust for three years, and asked, “What happened in Carmel that has you so happy?”
  • “Alpha Alessandro is going to marry Miss Lilia! Today!”
  • “What?!”
  • I even doubted if I heard it correctly, until the driver repeated it, and my muddled mind cleared up.
  • “Damn it!” Mia cursed in my mind, “Alessandro is supposed to be our fiancĂ©! How could he betray us and marry Lilia! Especially on today of all days! Don’t they know it’s the day we’re getting out of prison?!”
  • “Lydia! We have to go and get Alessandro back!”
  • Anger surged in my heart, “Mia, remember, anything that can be taken away is not worth fighting for!”
  • “Don’t forget who put us in prison in the first place! A man like Alessandro is not worth fighting over!” I suddenly felt a sense of irony, a smirk on my lips, “Mia, we shouldn’t be angry. Alessandro and Lilia helped you awaken, we should give them a gift, a big gift!”
  • I opened my phone and sent a text message to the mysterious person in prison who had been helping me all along.
  • Although I didn’t know why he had been helping me all along, my friend Molly from the slums once told me, when you’re in trouble, go find the person who has always helped you, not the one you’ve helped.
  • Soon, I received a reply.
  • Dear Miss Lydia, I wanted to be the first one to pick you up today, but it seems the flowers in my hand have withered. Do you have any instructions for me?
  • Perhaps before you express your needs to me, I should formally introduce myself. I am Marcio, the Beta of Dark Forest, and I would like to formally invite you to be the Alpha of our Dark Forest.】
  • Alpha of Dark Forest?
  • I chewed on the gum in the car, raising my eyebrows with interest.
  • This was not a good job. Dark Forest pack was the most chaotic place around here, filled with a large number of refugee werewolves, even my father, the former Alpha of Carmel pack, Bob, didn’t dare to set foot there easily.
  • “Say yes, Lilia! Say yes!” Mia excitedly urged in my mind, digging her claws in.
  • Ever since Mia woke up, she had been immersed in the violent atmosphere of the prison, her wolf’s bloodthirsty nature unleashed. She was my best companion in battle, but a bomb in daily life.
  • I shook my head helplessly, indicating that I needed time to think, when a message popped up in the chat box.
  • You don’t have to reply now, just tell me what you need!
  • What a cute guy, I couldn’t help but think.
  • Help me prepare a box of foam frogs for the wedding venue in San Jose and Carmel, the louder the voice, the better.】
  • Marcio agreed without hesitation.
  • This is a specialty of our Dark Forest! I guarantee the task will be completed.
  • After getting his reply, I turned off my phone, opened the car window, and felt the air hitting my face.
  • The scenery outside the window was familiar yet unfamiliar, but I was sure that I was getting closer to the wedding venue.
  • Damn Alessandro, how dare he hold the wedding with Lilia in the church we had dreamed of countless times together!
  • My heart was beating faster and faster, excited to the point of almost jumping out of my chest.
  • I’m back! Carmel, I’m back!
  • That place intertwined with my love and hatred, that place that had hurt me countless times, I’m back!
  • Mia said angrily, “They will regret it! They will regret not treating us better!”
  • “They will pay for what they’ve done, because we survived!” I echoed Mia.
  • Let those humiliating pasts fucking disappear!
  • I, Lydia, will take back everything that belongs to me!
