Chapter 4
- Norton POV:
- Everything happened so suddenly.
- The laughing Lydia looked so unfamiliar.
- She used to be kind and cute, but jealousy made her target Lilia everywhere.
- Even though I treated Lilia and Lydia the same, even our deceased parents wanted to send Lilia away to make up for Lydia’s desires.
- If it weren’t for my insistence, Lilia would have been sent to the slums to suffer!
- But Lydia is never satisfied! She wants to compete with Lilia in everything!
- “Lydia is just a slut!” my wolf Zack cursed, “Norton! Look at the gigolo she’s flirting with! He’s still staring at her!”
- “Enough!” I frowned, signaling Zack to stop.
- But Zack didn’t stop for a moment, “You’re still trying to defend her! Look at how miserable Lilia is now! Today is her wedding day!”
- “I will make Lydia apologize.”
- Even though three years ago, Lilia owed Lydia a lot.
- But this time, Lydia went too far!
- Alessandro carried Lilia out of the pool, and as I approached to comfort her, my pupils shrank tightly when I saw the mark on Marcio’s body.
- Dark Forest! How could Lydia be involved with a werewolf from the Dark Forest pack!
- “Lydia, who is Marcio to you?” I couldn’t help but ask sarcastically as I grabbed Lydia’s arm.
- She shook off my hand disdainfully, “What does it have to do with you?”
- “Norton, I think you should go check on Lilia first, she’s scared by my gift.”
- Gift, Lydia dared to mention her damn gift!
- “You know Lilia is afraid of toads!” I gritted my teeth at her.
- But Lydia showed no guilt in her eyes, instead, she was very matter-of-fact, “If Lilia wasn’t scared, why would I give it to her?”
- “Norton, you don’t think I’m still the pushover from three years ago, do you? I did Lilia a big favor, what’s wrong with playing a joke on her?”
- Lilia was soaking wet! And this was supposed to be a joke!
- I was almost burning with anger, uncontrollably grabbing Lydia’s hand and shouting, “Apologize to Lilia! Otherwise, don’t come back to Carmel! The pack doesn’t welcome jealous people like you!”
- “I don’t want to go back to that disgusting place anyway!” Lydia retorted, her emotions escalating, “Not just the place, but you, Alessandro, and Lilia! Everyone makes me sick!”
- “You!” I raised my arm, ready to discipline this unruly sister.
- Lilia weakly spoke up, “No! Norton, brother, don’t be angry with Lydia because of me. I’m fine. It was my fault in the first place, so it’s normal for Lydia to be mad at me…”
- With her pale face and disheveled appearance, Lilia looked pitiful and made people want to comfort her.
- I couldn’t help but soften my attitude.
- But Alessandro suddenly rushed forward to continue what I had just done. Before his hand could slap Lydia’s face, Marcio grabbed his hand.
- Marcio raised an eyebrow playfully, “Hitting a lady is not a gentlemanly behavior.”
- “Then I’ll deal with you first!” Alessandro rolled up his shirt sleeves, threatening, “After I deal with you, I’ll make Lydia understand that not everyone can earn my wife’s forgiveness.”
- With that, the two men instantly started fighting.
- The surrounding guests immediately started gossiping and changing their faces.
- “Does a murderer like Lydia deserve to blame Luna from our San Jose pack?”
- “I don’t think Lydia ever thought of repenting in prison. Otherwise, why would she still act like this after coming out?”
- Seeing the situation leaning towards the truth from three years ago, I quickly stopped Alessandro.
- But the despicable man Lydia brought with her took the opportunity to punch him in the face.
- Alessandro covered his face and fiercely told the guests, “Shut up, all of you!”
- Lydia chuckled and provocatively put her hand on Marcio’s shoulder, “Are you going to hit me again? If not, should we continue the wedding?”
- It seemed like she knew that Alessandro and I wouldn’t want Lilia’s reputation to be tarnished.
- Lilia tenderly covered Alessandro’s face, and the scene became chaotic for a while.
- I had to step in and take charge, “Someone, take Lilia downstairs to change her clothes, take Alessandro to tend to his wounds, and let the wedding continue.”
- …
- Lydia still sat beside me, but now Marcio was also there.
- “You should teach her a lesson!” Zack said softly.
- But in my mind, I could only see Lydia’s right hand, the hand with calluses, missing a finger.
- What had Lydia been through in these three years to become like this?
- Before I could think further, the priest’s voice entered my ears.
- “Lilia, do you take this man to be your husband and enter into marriage with him…”
- “I do.”
- “Alessandro, do you…”
- I was almost lost in my thoughts until Zack spoke up and brought me back.
- “Why don’t you take a few more looks at Lilia now? Once she’s taken back to San Jose by Alessandro, we won’t have a chance to see her again.”
- “Our partners are about to marry someone else.”
