Chapter 3
- Lydia’s POV:
- Stepping out of the car, I noticed all eyes were on me.
- Disgust, pity.
- “Disgusting!” Mia wrinkled her nose.
- But I put on a fake smile, waving to the crowd in my prison uniform.
- “Oh my god, Lydia, you’re back! How have you been these past three years?”
- “Lydia, everyone missed you so much!”
- Countless people came to hug me, kissing my cheeks.
- And I just smiled innocently, “Did everyone really miss me? Really?”
- “Then why didn’t anyone come to see me when I was in prison? Were they afraid this murderer would go crazy?”
- I sneered at the crowd, but a familiar voice sounded behind me, tinged with anger.
- “Lydia! Enough.” Norton appeared behind me, grabbing my wrist and scolding, “Why didn’t you wear the dress I prepared for you?”
- “Don’t you know today is Lilia’s wedding?!”
- “Of course I know! Norton.” I turned around to look at the driver who had just picked me up.
- Seeing him trembling in fear, I smirked, “Brother, I never knew about the dress. Maybe the driver thought I looked pretty in this outfit and didn’t tell me!”
- Norton’s soft features and smooth lines instantly darkened.
- He glared angrily at the driver who had offended me, “You’re fired!”
- His supportive stance for me was like a brother who truly cared for his sister.
- But in my eyes, everything was so fake!
- “Lydia.” Norton rarely softened his tone, “Sit next to me.”
- He pulled me down to sit.
- But I gripped Norton’s hand tightly, looking at him with a sense of injustice, “Norton, you promised to make it up to me. Why didn’t you come to pick me up today?”
- “Sorry, it’s Lilia’s wedding today, I really couldn’t leave…” Norton finally looked guilty, but his gaze locked onto my right hand, “Lydia, what happened to your hand?”
- I pulled my hand away, turning my head as if it didn’t matter, “It’s nothing!”
- But Norton held onto me tightly, a worry on his face that I had never seen before.
- “Who did this to you?”
- “Tell me, I’ll make them pay!” Norton was almost grinding his teeth in anger.
- Mia coldly snorted, “Hypocrite! When we were bullied like that back then, where was Norton pretending to be now!”
- Before I could even answer, Lilia’s appearance instantly caught Norton’s attention.
- He almost immediately let go of my hand, feeling guilty.
- Lilia rushed towards me and gave me a big hug.
- “Lydia! My sister! I’m so happy you could come!”
- If I didn’t remember the triumphant smile on Lilia’s face when I was sent to prison, I would almost believe that we had a close sisterly bond.
- Mia was furious, “That bitch Lilia!”
- “If it weren’t for her, we wouldn’t be in this mess!”
- “Lydia, kill her!”
- I calmed Mia down, thinking about the mysterious man’s request earlier, and couldn’t help but put on a show with Lilia, “Really? I’m also thrilled to attend my ex-fiancĂ© and sister-in-law’s wedding!”
- “Lydia, don’t say that,” Norton’s expression suddenly became awkward.
- I didn’t even give him a glance, instead looking at my former lover, Alessandro.
- I thought he would feel guilty, but now it seemed that he had no regrets about what he said back then.
- “Long time no see,” I reached out my hand to Alessandro, showing a standard smile.
- But he was not interested in talking to me, “There’s nothing for us to see.”
- “Darling, we’re still at the wedding, let’s continue with the proceedings.” Facing Lilia, Alessandro showed a good attitude.
- I didn’t push it, and after checking a new message on my phone, I invited Lilia, “Before the wedding ceremony begins, would you like to see the gift I prepared for you both?”
- Lilia was ecstatic, “Really? Lydia, you’re amazing! I can’t wait to see the wedding gift you’ve prepared for us!”
- “Let’s go, to the front of the pool,” I said meaningfully.
- As we stepped out of the church, I caught sight of that tall figure.
- The air seemed to be filled with excitement, making my heart race uncontrollably.
- Before I could even wonder, Mia excitedly shouted, “That’s our destined partner!”
- “Marcio!” I cautiously approached and patted the man’s shoulder.
- When he turned around, my heart almost jumped out of my chest.
- How could someone be so handsome!
- Everyone present was as stunned by Marcio’s appearance as I was.
- Especially Lilia, her eyes wide with envy.
- Marcio gave me a shy smile and pointed to a foam box at his feet, “Lydia, here’s what you wanted.”
- As Lilia watched me talk to Marcio, her eyes filled with jealousy, but she asked innocently, “Sister, you can make friends even in prison?”
- Mia was so angry that she wanted to go up and tear Lilia’s mouth apart: “This bitch just can’t stand to see us happy! She wants to ruin our image in front of our partners!”
- I smiled, didn’t answer Lilia’s words, but pulled her to stand in front of the foam box.
- “Darling! Your husband is still here, is it not good to pay attention to other men?” I teased, “Come and see your gift.”
- I stepped aside and watched as Lilia slowly opened the top of the foam box.
- In almost an instant, the toad in the box jumped out.
- It kept croaking, and one even jumped onto Lilia’s face.
- “Ah!!” Lilia screamed, wandering around like a headless fly, “Help! Someone help me!”
- Even Alessandro didn’t react in time, Lilia fell into the pool, popping up like a drowned rat!
- And I burst into laughter, provocatively looking at Norton and Alessandro, “Are you satisfied? My first gift!”
- “Next, there will be many more surprises like this!”
