Chapter 33 You Are In My Grasp
- “Mr. Aldo, if you will excuse me, I would like to take my leave now,” Aurora said, her voice trembling despite the effort she put into sounding firm. Every fibre of her being screamed that she needed to get out of there while she was still conscious, that something was wrong. Her body felt strange, burning from the inside as if her blood had turned to fire. Sweat dripped from her face as she struggled to stay focused. She ignored Jenny as she looked expectantly at Mr. Aldo, waiting for his approval.
- She tried to focus on Aldo, but her vision blurred, and all she could see was that unsettling smile on his face. He looked like the demon at that moment with an invisible horn etched on his head. Her phone sat in her hand, the screen blank where she had desperately hoped to see a message from Lorenzo. Nothing came from him. Anxiety clawed at her, tightening its grip as the seconds ticked by. Lorenzo not replying to her messages is aggravating her anxiety; which is more of the reason why she needs to leave, staying with Aldo or Jenny is not the best choice.
- “I think we are done here anyway. Can we leave now?” Jason’s voice cut through the fog in her mind, coming to Aurora’s rescue, a lifeline she hadn’t expected. Aurora’s heart skipped a beat, and for a brief moment, hope shimmered in her chest. She was surprised that Jason would be willing to come to her aid, and she inwardly sent a silent prayer his way.
