Chapter 5
- Brian's POV
- Bella was standing looking a bit traumatized at the whole situation as Henry was being dragged away forcefully so I approached her to console her.
- With my arm spread across her shoulder I drew her closer to my body. “It's alright. You are safe now. He can't hurt you anymore," I said reassuringly and she glanced up at me with those beautiful, ocean blue eyes of hers before resting her head on my chest.
- “Brian. If you hadn't showed up when you did. He would have.." she hesitated, the words too heavy even for her to speak
- Clearly she is still feeling overwhelmed by the experience of almost getting raped by Henry even just thinking about it was making my heart boil in fury. That fool! So I cut her short- sparing her from reliving that traumatic experience even in her speech.
- ”I would never have allowed that to happen," I said as I held her face gently but firmly with both hands, staring deep into her ocean eyes.
- “Look at me. I will always be here to protect you. I promise," I said with every ounce of determination and conviction.
- I felt a gladness in my heart as I saw that hopeful and grateful smile flashed upon her pretty face and then she threw herself on me in a tight hug like a child trusting herself completely in the arms of her father.
- The softness and warmth of her body instantly energizes my spirit and her sweet scent keeps me afloat. Both my wolf and I find it very pleasing and relaxing.
- “What will I do without you? I love you, Brian." Those simple words from her lips ‘I love you ' is what gives my life its very purpose and meaning.
- To know that I am loved by someone so special like her makes me know I am the luckiest man and wolf alive. I exist just to keep her safe and happy. There is absolutely nothing I can't and wouldn't do for her even if it means giving up my life. I would gladly do that 10 times over without thinking.
- I know she isn't yet my mate but I know that is just a matter of time. In my heart she is my mate and even if on her nineteenth birthday she proves not to be my fated mate I would still choose her over a thousand fated mates.
- She is my life. She is my world. She is my everything!
- “I love you more, Bella." I said with all sincerity as I slowly planted a soft, tender kiss on her forehead and we embraced each other once more.
- A second or a minute or even an hour went by. I wasn't really sure. Not really paying attention. When I am with her, time doesn't matter. I can stay in her arms for all eternity and that still wouldn't be enough. I would still want more. However loving someone means putting their needs first and I am sure this traumatic experience Bella went through must have taken a lot of her strength and energy. She needs to have them replenished back.
- ”Come. Let me make you something to eat. Your favorite," I said and there was a sparkle on her face.
- “Really?"
- “Yes." I smiled.
- “Can Jane come along too, please?" She pouted like a small child and I thought she looked really cute and a bit funny.
- Chuckling. “Of course she can. Anything you want. Remember?"

- Henry's POV
- There is nothing more worse than a wolf without a pack. Oh there is and that's a wolf banished from his pack. News spreads like wildfire in the supernatural realm and it won't take much time before everyone now knows that I am a loner including every one of my enemies and I do have more than a few enemies. I am sure they would all come for me now when they know I don't have the backing of a pack.
- You can't imagine the vile and inhuman things they would do to me. Things that would make death look like mercy. My worries are not even only wolves, there are other creatures that walk in the shadows that would love nothing more than to feed on wolf's flesh and blood However I have always been a survivor and I plan on surviving this as well. Plus I need to exact my revenge on my pack for discarding me just like that for that wolfless pussy and I need to be alive and intact to do that. After all I have done for them? The many battles I have helped them win? The territories we have conquered together? They would behave this way towards me?
- No!
- I do not deserve such a harsh treatment. I will surely make them pay.
- As I walked amongst the humans; all too engrossed and carried away by the electronic gadgets and phones in their hands like mindless zombies I couldn't help but shake my head in disgust as well as pity. Although they live in this world, although they claim to be top of the food chain the truth is that they are actually clueless to most of the things happening in the world and contrary to what they believe; they are nowhere near being on top of the food chain. They are in fact toys and even food to higher, stronger and smarter beings…
- I stopped walking when I came to a bungalow that had the sign post that reads: Uptown Bar.
- Taking a few sniffs of the surrounding air I became a bit relaxed when I was certain that there were no wolves or special ones close by just humans.
- Slowly and confidently I motioned towards the building. A bottle or two, maybe 10. I just needed something to make me forget this anger or even something to fuel it the more. I really don't know what exactly I want. I would have loved to get drunk but I might have to empty the whole bar to accomplish that and it still wouldn't be certain as my kinds’ metabolism burns alcohol faster than a jet engine burns fuel....
- Taking my seat on the rather hard stool at the bar stand I signaled to the bartender- a huge old man with a stomach like that of a pregnant woman.
- “What would you like stranger," he said with a rather tender, friendly tone that didn't match his face at all as he has one of those frowny faces.
- “Your hardest substance," I ordered.
- “I know just what you need," he smiled. If you can call what appeared on his face a smile then he went consulting his drink shelf.
- Cracking my knuckles, my eyes scanned my surroundings a bit. Let's just say old habits.
- There weren't many people in the bar. I can literally count them. There were three couples seated on different tables acting all in love and a few losers drinking alone, probably hoping to carry a drunk hoe back home tonight.
- “Ah," I let out a soft sigh as I remembered the pretty Bella.
- Even though those two buffaloes that dragged me and threw me out of the pack had smeared their foul scent all over me I could still pick out fragments of Bella's sweet scent on me and it was refreshing.
- A silly smile formed on my face as I remembered how tightly and firmly I held her. I would have derived my ultimate pleasure from her body if her useless boyfriend hadn't come to play hero when he did. Who told him she needed saving? I am sure she wanted it just as much as I did. She was only putting up an act that she was against it. If that she didn't want it, why then did she stop him from ripping off my head?
- I would surely come back to that pack and when I do I will have her for myself right after I rip off her little boyfriend's heart from his chest...
- “Here you go stranger," the bartender said, bringing me out of my thoughts and he was about to fill a small glass cup with the bottle of liquor in his hand.
- What does he think he is doing?
- “Nah. That won't be necessary. Give me the whole bottle," I said, stretching out my hand to him and he glanced at my hand and back to my face with a puzzled expression.
- ”Y..You want to.." he stammered but I understood what he wanted to say perfectly and I nodded in agreement with my hand still stretched out.
- He hesitated a bit before handing over the bottle to me and flashing him a faint, soft smile. I started gulping down the whole thing.
- “.." he wanted to give out a warning but then his mouth went wide open and remained open as he watched in utter shock as gulped the whole thing down.
- “More!" I demanded as I dropped the empty bottle on the table.
- You should see the old man's ugly face. He couldn't believe what he had just witnessed. He might probably think I am some kind of magician or something cause no normal human can do what I did without suffering severe throat and lung burn but I ain't no homosapien.
- The old man was about to go get another drink when it hit me. That smell.
- “Shit."
- Wolves! Three of them and most disturbingly all enemies of mine. They are here and no doubt they came for me.
- I should run but I know it's already too late for that. They must have picked up my scent even worse they might have tracked me here all along.
- “Henry." A thick angry voice said from behind me.
