• The door creaked open, and I tensed, unsure of who was on the other side. But as Alfred, the butler, stepped into the room, I relaxed slightly. His formal demeanor and polite smile were a welcome respite from the tension that had been building inside me.
• "Hello, my lady," he greeted, his voice low and soothing. "Lord Damian said I should bring these little items to you." He gestured to the cart he was pushing, which was laden with a neatly arranged selection of female clothing and shoes.
