The fake Eric had managed to bribe him with money to spy on the conversations of the Alpha and his friends. Eric knew he wouldn't be in the palace anymore after he had kidnapped Ryan, so he had to hire someone to get the news for him. The person he chose was a new guard that had just been hired a few months ago, he was a driver for the Alpha.

He couldn't afford to make a phone call there, or in the werewolf realm, they had sharp ears and if he wasn't careful, he would be caught. So, he drove over to the shape-shifters' land to deliver the news himself. He had to go in through the back portal, the same one Hera had followed after escaping. It would be stupid to follow the front portal because they had guards watching over there.
