• I swallowed, my mouth suddenly dry. “You didn't answer my question…” I hesitated before asking. “You said I'm the last to know… I don't understand. What don't I know?”
• He didn't answer and just stared at me, a knowing grin on his face. Just as I opened my mouth to speak, he raised a finger, slowly wagging it in front of my face before reaching into his jacket. His eyes met mine before he brought out a black envelope and placed it on the table between us. “Why don’t you see for yourself?”
• I hesitated before reaching for it, my fingers trembling as I opened the envelope and saw three photos inside. “What is this?” I asked, my voice filled with trepidation.
