Chapter 7 Sly Old Fox

  • Standing before Celica was the familiar entryway, but she had no desire to return. She had no freedom in the Hyde Estate.
  • Nathaniel, refusing to take no for an answer, got out of the car and opened the door for her. "Step out of the car," he commanded. He left her no chance to refuse.
  • "No," she firmly declined. "I want to go back to my home." She had no intention of marrying this man or living according to his whims. However, before she could do anything, the world around her began to spin. She found herself leaning against his chest, feeling a surge of warmth that made her heart race for some reason.
  • He led her into the house. The servants who welcomed them were shocked, thinking, Our Alpha is bringing back Mrs. Hyde who was previously kicked out?
  • Celica was gently placed on the couch. Nathaniel examined her hand, wincing at the crimson wound. "Fetch the medical kit," he said coldly.
  • The servants snapped out of their stupor and quickly retrieved the medical kit. "Allow me to assist, sir." One of the servants couldn't bear to let Mr. Hyde handle the situation alone.
  • "No," Nathaniel replied, patting the back of Celica's hand with a Q-tip soaked in antiseptic.
  • "Ow, it hurts." She disliked pain and tried to pull her hand away, but he held it firmly.
  • "Be a good girl and endure it," he coaxed, his voice surprisingly gentle despite his icy demeanor. A glimmer of warmth appeared on his face, softening his cold exterior. She thought, This Alpha is not as cold as he seems.
  • Nathaniel finished bandaging her hand and blew gently on the wound. His breath brushed against Celica, making her feel as if he had touched her. She pulled her hand back and looked away. "Thank you. Now, can I go home?"
  • "But this is your home, babe." He didn't even mention the divorce. It had taken him so long to find his mate, and he couldn't bear to let her leave.
  • Her pupils narrowed, and impatience filled her eyes. She panicked internally, realizing she couldn't win a fight against an Alpha as powerful as Nathaniel. Instead, she opted for a softer approach—communication.
  • She wondered why his attitude had changed. Over the past three years, the only time they had any physical contact was the night before. It had been an accident for her. The fact that he kept pursuing her suggested he was interested in her body. "We're divorced. This is illegal imprisonment."
  • Nathaniel suddenly grabbed Celica's cheek, forcing her to meet his gaze. He licked his fangs, staring at her neck. "Oh, someone knows the law. I didn't expect that from you."
  • She blushed. She knew he was mocking her. He was getting too close, and she could smell his Alpha scent, which intoxicated her.
  • "I must remind you, babe, that the divorce papers are gone, and we haven't completed the paperwork, so legally, we're still married."
  • She couldn't help but think, He's not a wolf. He's a sly old fox! Celica was furious. Just a little longer, and I could have obtained the divorce. He's the one who initiated it, and now he's taking it back. I'm just an ordinary omega. There's no way I can win against an Alpha.
  • Just then, Nathaniel's phone rang, breaking the tension. He answered the call.
  • Remus said, "Mr. Hyde, there's an urgent meeting with people from Hanselt. You have to handle it yourself. I'm outside your house."
  • Nathaniel grunted and hung up. He released his grip on Celica and stood up to straighten his suit.
  • As he was about to leave, she began formulating a plan, but right before he reached the entryway, he stopped in his tracks. He said coldly, "Keep an eye on Mrs. Hyde. Don't let her wander."
  • "Yes," the bodyguards replied.
  • Celica's heart sank as she thought, He's imprisoning me in his house? She stared at Nathaniel in frustration, cursing the person who spiked her drink at the event. If her drink hadn't been spiked, she would never have slept with Nathaniel, and he wouldn't be pursuing her now.
