Chapter 10 Getting Changed

  • Nathaniel observed the patches on everyone's clothes and could imagine the earlier commotion.
  • Celica calmly looked at him as he took a tissue from the table and wiped her face. Then, he turned to his mother. "There's no need to exaggerate a family matter. The pack won't collapse because of her. Mother, if you don't have any important business, please refrain from coming to my estate. It's impolite to bring an outsider into my home without my permission."
  • Genevieve's eyes widened as she thought, My son is the Alpha. How could he say that? When did they develop such a close relationship?
  • In reality, the mother and son's relationship wasn't as close as everyone believed. However, he had never spoken back to her so openly before. It was clear how much he valued Celica now.
  • "Nathan, Mrs. Hyde and I heard that you two are divorced, yet Celica shamelessly remains in the estate." Charlotte looked at him longingly but didn't dare to stare. Years ago, they were on the verge of becoming a true couple. The fact that Celica had stolen her Alpha had weighed on her mind for years.
  • Nathaniel's expression fell. He ignored Charlotte. "Remus, please escort my mother back to her place."
  • An awkward silence filled the air. Charlotte's smile slowly faded, and her hand hung in midair. She watched as Nathaniel took care of Celica, and jealousy emanated from her gaze. She wondered, What kind of spell has Celica cast on him?
  • Remus stepped forward. Politely, he said, "Mrs. Hyde, Miss Xylas, please come with me."
  • It was evident that Nathaniel wanted them to leave, and the situation became uncomfortable. Genevieve had the feeling that her son was treating her like an outsider. She was angry that a mediocre she-wolf like Celica had enchanted her son. "Nathan, she's not your destined Luna! If you stay with a she-wolf who would betray her mate, you'll lead our pack to extinction!"
  • Celica's expression fell, and a smirk formed on her lips. She thought, If Mrs. Hyde finds out that the man who slept with me is her son, I wonder what kind of expression she'll have. And Charlotte, too.
  • Nathaniel only had eyes for Celica. He couldn't hear anything except her voice as he wiped the paint off her face with a tissue.
  • Being ignored was upsetting. Genevieve speculated that he had no idea that Celica had betrayed him. She pondered, Even if his allergy is treated, he still has strong reservations about relationships. No Alpha would allow their mate to sleep with another man.
  • "Nathan, I have to tell you something. The night before you returned, Celica went out partying at a club or something, and she came back wearing that man's shirt," Genevieve said firmly. She wanted to immediately kick Celica out of the household. She thought, A promiscuous she-wolf like her has no right to be our pack's Luna. If he intends to secure his position as Alpha, he must choose a she-wolf who can expand the family's business as his mate. Charlotte loves him deeply, and she comes from a powerful family. She's the best choice. As long as I can get rid of Celica, things will be easier.
  • "Nathan, you're a brilliant man. You don't have to take a treacherous she-wolf as your mate." Charlotte looked concerned. "If she can betray you once, she can betray you countless times. She might even stab you in the back."
  • Celica sneered. Her wolf was filled with rage as well. She wouldn't allow any other she-wolf to slander her. She muttered to herself, "Calm down, babe. Let them speak. If they can convince Nathaniel to divorce me, I can gain my freedom."
  • Celica observed Charlotte as she spoke. She suddenly had the feeling that Charlotte could win an Oscar. Celica couldn't help but think, But she's not the only one who can put on a performance. I can, too. So, she leaned closer into Nathaniel's embrace, huddled close, and seduced him with her gaze. "I did betray you, Nathaniel. A few nights ago, I spent the whole night with another Alpha. I loved how he ravished me. He was a skilled lover. Let's get a divorce."
