Chapter 4 Already Signed

  • "Mr. Hyde, do you need to go back and check on this?" Remus asked when Nathaniel didn't respond for a while.
  • "No need," Nathaniel replied. A woman who had no real significance in his life wasn't worth his time and attention. At the same time, he handed the documents in his hand to Remus without any emotion. "Take care of these."
  • "Yes, sir," Remus acknowledged, recognizing that Nathaniel was in a bad mood. Without further ado, he left the room.
  • Nathaniel adjusted to a more comfortable sitting position, cleared his thoughts, and quickly immersed himself in his work.
  • Knock, knock!
  • Suddenly, there was a knock at the door.
  • "Come in!" Nathaniel said.
  • "Mr. Hyde, Mrs. Hyde has signed the divorce agreement," said Wyatt as he entered. He handed over the divorce agreement that Celica had signed.
  • Nathaniel was slightly taken aback, recalling that he had instructed Wyatt to handle his divorce matters earlier that morning. He accepted the divorce agreement and flipped through it.
  • "No trouble?"
  • "None."
  • The marriage between him and the Savill Family's daughter had been orchestrated entirely by Genevieve. He had agreed to the marriage for one reason only—to fulfill his grandmother's wish to see him married before she passed away. Now that his grandmother's health had improved, he had no further need for that woman.
  • Nathaniel had no real recollection of his three-year nominal marriage, not even his so-called wife's name. However, as a businessman, he remembered that the Savill Family had taken away 50 million from him when they married their daughter to him. Furthermore, during these three years, they had reaped significant benefits from the Hyde Family.
  • He had expected the divorce process to be more demanding. Still, the Savill Family's willingness to comply with the divorce had caught him somewhat by surprise.
  • "Celica Savill?" Nathaniel paused in his thoughts as he reached the last page of the document. The delicate signature of the woman caught his eye.
  • "Her name is Celica?" Nathaniel raised his gaze, looking at the lawyer with a hint of confusion.
  • "Yes, Mrs. Hyde is named Celica," Wyatt replied, not understanding why Nathaniel was asking but providing the answer.
  • With Wyatt's confirmation, Nathaniel's eyes darkened with an inscrutable look. At that moment, he recalled the words Remus had spoken earlier.
  • The next second, the unrelated pieces of information suddenly connected in his mind, forming a complete narrative.
  • "The agreement is void," Nathaniel said, his cold eyes slightly darkening, and he issued the next instruction.
  • Wyatt was a bit puzzled, but before he could inquire further, Nathaniel handed him the documents. He rose from his seat, heading toward the door.
  • "Remus," Nathaniel called.
  • Remus was stationed outside and immediately pushed open the door upon hearing his name. "Yes, sir?"
  • "Get the car. Go to Hyde Estate."
  • "Yes, sir." Remus, though unsure about the sudden change of plans, obeyed the command.
  • After leaving Hyde Estate, Celica returned to her dorm room. She was close to graduating from college, and her roommates were mostly out on internships, seldom returning. She enjoyed the solitude. As she lazily lounged on the couch for a short nap, her phone, placed on the coffee table, began to ring.
  • Celica opened her eyes and glanced at her phone to find it was a call from the Savill Family. She didn't want to answer it, as she knew that for them to call at this time meant they had probably found out about her divorce from Nathaniel. However, the phone continued to ring persistently.
  • With a frown, Celica finally gave in to the relentless ringing and answered the call, her reluctance evident in her voice. "Hello?"
  • "Where are you? Get home now!" Her father, Edward Savill, shouted angrily through the receiver, the fury in his voice clear even without seeing his face.
  • Celica moved the phone slightly away from her ear and asked icily, "What's the matter?"
  • "What's the matter? Are you really asking what's going on? Don't you know what you've done?" Edward's voice was almost ear-piercing. "You have one hour to get home!"
  • The way a father would yell and curse like this would certainly dishearten any daughter. However, Celica was already used to it. "I have classes in the afternoon," she replied with an even more indifferent tone.
  • "Don't waste your breath if you still care about your mother!" Edward was furious, and after saying that, he hung up the phone abruptly.
  • Staring at her darkened phone screen, Celica forced a slight smile. Her father, Edward, had a habit of using this particular tactic, and unfortunately, she was very susceptible to it. She couldn't help it, as her mother was her weak spot.
  • At that, her doe-like eyes dimmed.
  • Her mother, Hermione Zeller, was never dominant. In Celica's memory, this woman had given her all for the Savill Family. But Edward had an affair when he was on the rise. When Celica was just five years old, he brought his lover, Mindy Walden, home, along with their child, a three-year-old Olivia Savill.
  • For Celica's sake, Hermione chose to endure and left the family with nothing. But Hermione's sacrifices and kindness did not earn her any favorable treatment. Instead, she faced manipulations and schemes from Edward and his lover time and time again.
  • Three years ago, Hermione ended up in the ICU due to illness, requiring a substantial amount of money for her treatment. They used this situation to manipulate Celica into marrying into the Hyde Family in exchange for 50 million to save the Savill Family's business.
  • Thinking about this, Celica clenched her fists. This family is filled with demons who want to destroy me completely!
