• The backyard was ridiculously big. Celica was tired after going through one-third of it, so the couple went back. They sat on a swing made of rattan, and up above their heads was a sky full of stars. Silvery light draped over the couple as if Selene herself was blessing them. Celica felt a weight on her shoulder again, and Nathaniel's aura swam over. The Alpha was leaning on her shoulder, resting his eyes.
• His side profile was perfect, just like the sculpture of a god. His eyelids drooped, and the air of a powerful man swirled around his face. Wherever the Alpha was, Celica felt secure. She brushed her hand across his thick, short hair. This was how werewolves showed intimacy. "Are you tired? Why don't we get inside so you can sleep? It's windy out here." She was worried Nathaniel might fall ill. Her worries were unfounded, of course. Alphas were far more powerful than any regular werewolf could imagine.
