Chapter 2
- Nina’s Point of View
- “I can help you,” Hilda said.
- “Why would you help us?” Kate asked, and I was wondering the same thing. Suddenly, one of the nurses appeared, causing us to stop talking.
- “The doctor said you are free to go now,” the nurse said.
- “Okay,” I replied, and the nurse left. I looked up and was shocked to see that Hilda was gone.
- “ Where did she go?” Kate asked.
- “I don’t know. Let’s get out of here,” I said, and Kate and I left.
- “You really need to figure out how to get out of here tonight, Nina. That is the only way you can get out of this marriage,” Kate said. We were back in my room, or should I say, the shed in the back of the Packhouse.
- “I know, but how? Alpha Marcus has so many guards watching me. Even if I get past them, the trackers will catch me before I make it to the border,” I replied.
- “We have to try. We need to get out of here,” Kate said.
- “I don’t want to get you involved. I wouldn't forgive myself if anything happened to you because of me,” I said.
- “Well, I am not staying here. You are my best friend, and I am going with you,” Kate said.
- “First, we have to figure out how to get away,” I said.
- “I will help you,” I heard Hilda say, shocking Kate and me.
- “How the hell did you get in here?” Kate asked. Hilda was standing in the middle of the shed.
- “I teleported in.”
- “Why are you here?” Kate asked.
- “I already told you. I came to help you escape,” Hilda replied.
- “Why would you help us?” I asked.
- “I have my reasons.”
- “How do we know we can trust you?” I asked.
- “You don’t, but I am the only one who can help you. Nina’s wolf is weak. Without me, you won’t make it,” Hilda said, and I knew she was right. “So, what do you say? Do you want my help?” Hilda asked, and Kate and I looked at each other.
- “What do you think?” Kate asked.
- “We don’t have a choice. If we want to get out of here, she is our best bet,” I said, and then I looked at Hilda.
- “What is your plan?” I asked, and she smiled.
- “Just leave everything to me.”
- Three Hours Later
- “Where is she? She said she would be here by now. I don’t think she is coming. We need to figure out how to get out of here without anyone seeing us,” Kate said.
- “I don’t know how we are going to get out on our own. There are too many guards out there right now,” I replied. Alpha Marcus had ordered five guards to watch me. They were all standing by the shed.
- “We have to try. If we don’t, Alpha Jack will be here in the morning to get you,” Kate said, and I knew she was right.
- “You’re right,” I said, and I looked around the shed. “Let’s go through here,” I said, pointing at the window that was falling the back.
- “That’s a good idea,” Kate replied. Kate opened the window and we both climbed through it.
- “Good, Let’s go,” Kate said once we were outside.
- “Hey, were do you think you’re going?” I turned around to see thte five guards standing behind us.
- “Fuck,” Kate said.
- “Are you two trying to run away?” One of the guards asked.
- “Um, no. We just wanted some fresh air,” Kate replied with an innocent smile.
- “I wonder what the Alpha will do to you once he finds out you were planning to run away. Let’s find out. Grab them.” two of the guards walked over to Kate and me and grabbed us by are arms.
- “Let me go,” Kate said as she tried to get away.
- Suddenly, black smoke filled the air. It was so thick that was all I could see. A few seconds later it disappeared. I was shocked to see Kate and the guards on the ground unconscious.
- “Kate,” I said as I kneeled in front of her.
- “She will be okay.” I turned around and was shocked to see Hilda standing there.
- “Hilda,” I said.
- “Come on. We need to leave before they wake up,” Hilda said. Hilda walked over to me and helped me carry Kate out of there. I was worried about the guards that were watching the border but when we arrived I was shocked to see they were also unconscious.
- “This is as far as I can go,” Hilda said. We had been walking for over an hour. Kate was stil unconscious.
- “I did all I can do. Here,” Hilda said and she handed me a bag. I opened it and saw it was full of money. “Your friend will be waking up soon,” Hilda said.
- “Why did you help us?”
- “I can’t tell you why I am helping you,” Hilda said.
- “What was the stuff that made everyone pass out?” I asked and Hilda started to laugh.
- “You are asking the wrong questions. What you should be asking is why you didn’t pass out as well.” I just looked at her silently.
- “You, my dear. You are stronger than you think you are,” Hilda said and then she disappeared.
- Kate started to move and I knew she was waking up. “Kate, thank the Goddess you are okay,” I said and she opened her eyes.
- “What happened?”
