Chapter 5

  • Kaya's Pov
  • "Do something." Tyler’s voice boomed.
  • I felt the salutary inch towards me to examine me. I was too weak to move, my muscled screamed out of fatigue and pain.
  • “Say something” Tyler’s voice grew impatient.
  • "Alpha, you need to back up a little,” the salutary talked tenderly, expressing himself shrewdly.
  • I felt the salutary’s hands on my neck causing me to groan in pain.
  • In an instant, Tyler was beside me and his emotions were all over the place. I could sense that he was angry, worried and frightened…?.
  • “What do you think you are doing” Tyler’s voice boomed
  • “I am helping, I promise,” voiced the salutary wobbly.
  • The salutary pulled my cloth off and mentioned something about hypothermia.
  • He checked my pulse and later proceeded to place a soft silicone medical sensor on my body to examine me properly.
  • I could sense the mix of emotions in the air, Tyler’s emotions. It was a mix of impatience laced with anger and at the same time what seemed like concern.
  • “Was he concerned about me? “Why did I matter all of a sudden to him?”
  • It all began to come to me, Luta forcefully submerging my head in the water to finally get rid of me but Tyler saved me. He must have seen the bruises that bejewelled my skin. Could that be the reason he was troubled?
  • His deep voice rang again in my subconscious, “Mate”. “Holy moly! he called me his mate.”
  • Worry flooded through me as I pondered on the reality.
  • Would he accept a weakling like me? Maybe he was concerned just because he didn’t want a member of his pack dead. What about Luta? Is he dead?
  • A strange sound caused me to open my eyes to see what was going on. As opened my eyes, I met with his bullet-piercing golden eyes.
  • "Kaya" His hypnotic voice resonated as he spoke softly again.
  • “It’s ok. It's just the IV fluid warmer beeping, it's helping to keep you warm.”
  • Hearing his words in some way or another encouraged me in a way, it was something I have never felt.
  • "I was worried that I’d lose you," he said delicately, puzzling me.
  • "W-why?" I inquired, truly befuddled.
  • The manner in which he looked at me made me much more befuddled.
  • "Kaya, you nearly drowned," he said furrowing his eyebrows as he peered down. It was glaring that he truly was worried.
  • I don't have the foggiest idea of how someone else would feel when they hear that they nearly died. To me, I was accustomed to dropping and awakening. This was my life now and Luta and his gang made sure of it.
  • Just where could Luta be?
  • "W-where is Luta-at," I asked unobtrusively, while curious as to the fate that had befallen him.
  • The snarl that radiated from Tyler sent shivers down my spine, " He has been dealt with." he said irately with his eyes turning wild.
  • In any case, when they met mine they remained calm.
  • "I apologize for intruding alpha I was contemplating whether I could run some tests on her to ensure she's steady." he expressed, strolling over to my side.
  • It’s been years since I visited the Clinic. I conjectured whether he found the wrecked ribs that were presently killing me. As the salutary moved, so did Tyler’s eye. It was like he was a falcon watching each move the salutary made.
  • I peered over to where he stood and observed that his name tag read ‘’Oslo.’ He moved over to where the monitor was and read the chart. Afterwards, he turned to me and asked if it was ok to examine the bruises on my body. And of course, I said “No!” it was all the while humiliating to have others except me look at my body.
  • Oslo sighed at my response, stating that he had no intention of hurting me and that he simply needed to examine the bruises so that he could provide the right medication to aid me in healing. His attempt to convince me was futile and I clutched the blanket to show my disapproval.
  • Oslo didn’t seem to get the message, he inched closer to me still trying to be of help in his way and as he inched closer, a guttural sound occupied the room.
  • "She said No!." Tyler repeated, shooting daggers at Oslo.
  • I so frantically needed to escape this room and back to mine, it felt choking. Being around Tyler made me very agitated. What I couldn’t wrap my head around was the fact that he was truly concerned about my well-being. The shooting pain from my broken ribs did better convincing than Oslo and I finally gestured to him, giving him the approval to examine me further.
  • I closed my eyes wincing in pain as he lifted the blanket causing Tyler to bolt towards me. I could hear him grimace beside me and this somehow frightened me. This very sight of me was enough to send him running, I mean which wolf would love to associate with a weakling not to talk of an Alpha of a pack? On the off chance that he didn't dismiss me prior, he positively would now that he's seen me in this state.
  • "I..um..I'll get you some medication for these." I heard Oslo say tenderly. I nodded while I heard the entryway open and shut.
  • "Kaya." Tyler's voice filled my ears and soothed my nerves.
  • "Yes," I answered hesitantly
  • At the point when I did, he was checking out the different bruises I had on my body. His thorough search reflected his concern evoking a throbbing feeling of want inside of me. I have never had someone look at me with so much care. The look I’ve been used to all these years is that of antipathy, disdain, and disapproval from most members of the pack, especially the trios.
  • Gradually I covered myself with the warm blanket feeling very uncomfortable under his gaze
  • "You don't need to pity me," I murmured.
  • Before he could respond, Oslo strolled back in with a white case that contained a gel-like tablet and a bottle of water, "This would help with the pain."
  • "Thanks," I said in a rather hoarse voice, reviling myself for sounding so terrible every time I said something.
  • He cleared his throat and said,” I’ll need you to stand up please so I can take a couple of x-rays to decipher the extent of the injury”
  • I attempted to sit up and it was undeniably difficult thanks to my broken ribs. I didn’t want Tyler to think that I was just too weak so I pushed myself to a sitting position. After mustering all that energy to sit, I realized that standing was indeed an arduous task. Stubbornly, I ignored all the signs, pushed myself and failed miserably. The floor opened its arms wide to welcome me but Tyler’s firm hand caught me instantaneously.
  • The chemistry between us was enough to set the room on fire.
  • "I don’t think I can do that," I said wincing, while I sat back down on the bed.
  • Tyler and Oslo both appeared to be confounded, "Why is that?" Oslo asked, with his eyebrows wrinkled.
  • "I think m-my ribs are broken." I expressed unobtrusively, while my eyes met Tyler's that authoritatively turned red”.
  • He was infuriated.
