• Alex sat on a wooden chair in the park, waiting for Lily. He had chosen an open area to ease Ethan’s fear, hoping that being out in the open would make things safer. He kept checking his watch, his eyes scanning the surroundings for any sign of her. They had agreed to meet at 10 a.m., but now it was already 10:30, and Lily was nowhere to be seen. Alex was beginning to think she wouldn’t show up when he suddenly heard a voice behind him.
