  • Stepping slowly away from Derek, I stylishly moved to Bonnie's direction, my eyes on Gerald as he engaged in a conversation with Derek. I tucked a strand of my hair behind my ear and shifted my gaze immediately at Bonnie. I pinched her hand with gritted teeth, cocking my brows as I stared into her deep brown eyes. She understood my gestures immediately and she knew I was anticipating her feedback.
  • “He has no idea who the couples and their children are. He arrived with his uncle, whose buddy was the primary invitee to the party. I suppose his uncle's friend was the one who received the invitation, and they simply opted to accompany him. See ..He has no idea who the couples are or that you and Derek are the couple's sweet teenagers. Problem solved..." Bonnie smiled and shrugged, and I squeezed my lips together, still unsatisfied with the response. What if the uncle's friend is familiar with my parents? What if he knows either my mother or Mr. Walton? And what if he knows that Derek is the groom's son while I am the bride's daughter?
