Chapter 37

• The club was loud and chaotic, with music blaring from the speakers and people packed tightly together on the dance floor. The lights were flashing, creating a disorienting effect, and the air was thick with the smell of sweat and alcohol. Waiters and waitresses weaved their way through the crowd, carrying trays of drinks, while couples danced and laughed, and friends chatted and shouted to be heard over the noise. The atmosphere was electric and energetic, and it was clear that everyone was there to have a good time but Maya wasn't, she had kept a straight face since she walked in with Michael, and she had expected to see Michael's friends as well in the table but no one was there except her, she felt weird but she decided to keep her cool, Michael has excused himself a couple of times to answer the call, Maya didn't question him as loud music was playing at the club and they could hardly hear each other. Maya's phone started ringing as she checked to see who was calling, her eyes lit up in relief when she saw it was Jason calling." Hello Jason, why are you calling, is Jayden okay?" Maya asked curiously as her eyes widened.
• "Jayden is fine, l called to check up on you and know if you are having fun," he replied, Maya giggled slightly as she knew Jason wasn't comfortable whenever Michael was with her." I'm good and the place is such a nice place, Michael left for a while to answer the call and he isn't back yet." Maya explained.
• Jason squinted his eyes in suspicion and before he could say anything, he received a text message from his men, he quickly ended the call as he didn't want to bother Maya, he wanted to handle the situation his way. Jason read the message and his heart sank, Maya's life could be in danger as the perpetrator of that act was still unknown." Hold on, and make sure she's safe, I'm coming" he replied to his bodyguards, as a surge of anger plastered on his face, he was surely going to deal with whoever tried to mess with his woman.
