Chapter 28

• Maya got home very tired as she had a lot of clients to attend to, Mrs Patricia had helped her put Jayden to sleep as she saw how tired Maya was, after taking her bath she laid down on the bed as she recalled that she didn't see Micheal again after Jason left the office. She sighed knowing that Michael was just a part-time manager who was free to close from work anytime. Maya's thoughts were a jumbled mess as she replayed the events of the day in her mind. Despite her anger and frustration, she couldn't help but smile when she remembered the way Jason had professed his love for her. It was a moment she had dreamt of for so long, and it had finally come. She was supposed to be angry that Jason's good intentions came rather too late but here she was blushing over his words.
• As Maya lay there, drifting off to sleep, she thought back to the first time she had met Jason, she had never felt such a strong connection with someone before, Maya's thoughts turned to the day her father had told her about the arrangement he had made with the Fosters. She had been shocked and upset, and she had tried to protest. But her father had been adamant. He had explained that it was for the good of the family and that she would be well taken care of. But in her heart, she had known that this was not what she wanted. She wanted to spend the rest of her life with Jason, the stranger she was madly in love with. and when it turned out that Jason was the same person her father wanted her to marry, she was overwhelmed with excitement as she couldn't wait to walk down the aisle with the love of her life, as she drifted off to sleep, she couldn't help but wonder if things could have been different if she didn't marry Jason against his wish.
• As Maya tried to make sense of her feelings, she felt torn. On the one hand, she had seen a glimpse of a different side of Jason. A side that seemed genuine and caring. A side that she hadn't seen before. But on the other hand, she had been hurt by him before. She didn't want to risk opening her heart to him again, only to be disappointed. She didn't know what to do. She felt stuck, unsure of which path to take. How could she know if Jason was sincere, or if he was just playing games with her?
