Christopher leaned toward her slightly, and Diane was instantly enveloped in his own special scent; the pleasant smell of him pierced the deepest part of her heart like a fine needle.
Diane felt nervous and even a little scared, so she instinctively took a step back and denied hastily, “Nonsense! Why would I be worried? What’s there to be afraid of? I… I just don’t like being with you. How is that weird?”
She returned his question with another as an act to make herself appear calm. Then, she turned around immediately and bolted upstairs in a flash.
