Chapter 15 – Gossip Starts To Spread

• While Elzar sat in silence, his mind was consumed with curiosity about Dalia, who wasn’t far from him. From his seat, he observed her sharing lunch with Gerald and his wife, Nichole. The three of them appeared so close, laughing together and creating a warm, friendly atmosphere. The scene stood in stark contrast to the cold emptiness now enveloping Elzar’s heart.
• Gerald gently set his glass down and looked at Dalia. “Oh, Dalia, have you made your decision?” he asked cautiously after she placed her spoon down on her plate.
• Nichole, seated beside Gerald, quickly chimed in with a soft, hopeful tone. “We understand this isn’t an easy thing to ask, and we have no right to pressure you. But, Dalia, we truly hope you’ll consider helping us. Right now, you’re the only hope we have for healing my sister-in-law.” Her face displayed a mix of worry and longing, as though Dalia’s response could change everything.
