• When the sound of the curtains flapping overhead finally reached her ears, Emerald felt an odd sensation wash over her. The atmosphere seemed off-kilter as well.
• It was difficult to gauge how long she had been asleep, but one thing was clear: the air carried a different scent, leading her to believe she had overslept into the next day.
• With that thought, she bolted her eyes open. But as she realized that night had just begun to settle in, she let out a sigh of relief. She had much to accomplish and couldn't afford to lose precious time.
