- With a deep sigh, the detective began her address, "We will be conducting an extensive investigation to uncover the truth of what happened to Mandy. Soon, we will all understand the events that led to this tragedy."
- Hearing Mandy's name finally mentioned, Emerald felt a pang of realization. The detective continued, "If anyone happened to notice anything unusual or concerning about the victim before the incident, please come forward and let us know. Your observations could significantly aid our investigation. I understand it might be difficult to share such information, but your cooperation would be invaluable. Should you find it hard to reach us directly—"
- Interrupting, Emerald whispered to Annie, "I need to use the restroom," to which Annie nodded in acknowledgment. Emerald slipped out of the large auditorium, a separate building situated just behind the main school structure. Standing outside, she gazed at the rooftop silhouette of the main building and felt her heart constrict with anxiety.
