• As the sound of the door slamming shut reached her ears, Emerald fell onto the bed, her eyes fixed on the ceiling. Recalling her father's decision, she figured out that it wasn't going to be as bad as she thought it would be. She would still see Andrew and maybe, who knows, either of them might be able to devise a way to fool the assigned bodyguard.
• Emerald was about to pick up her phone and text Andrew about the development, but something in her gut told her to wait until the next day. Closing her eyes to enjoy the peace that filled her soul since the dreaded moment had passed, she pictured Andrew.
