Chapter 6

  • I went out to buy Mr. Huntington’s breakfast. I was annoyed by myself while I was inside the elevator after I bought my boss’s breakfast. Like what the hell, self? I could have at least make a phone call for delivery. “Stupid, Cejay!” I muttered under my breath whilst gritting my teeth. I wasn’t using my brain properly. I should have thought of making a phone call but I ended up buying outside. I was too lazy going outside when I wanted to buy breakfast for myself. Well, that was before when I hadn’t resigned from my former job. I sighed, frowning. I was whining inside for how stupid I was. I huffed as I arrived on the office floor. I felt like I should regret agreeing with this kind of proposal. I know that this is hard being a personal assistant. That is why I appreciate my assistant because of her hard work. “Your breakfast, Your Majesty,” I said in a monotone, placing the paper bag in front of his desk after he made a phone call from one of his clients. Mr. Huntington formed a sheepish smile. “What is with that wary tone of voice?” I pursed my lips into a thin line. “Nevermind, Your Majesty.” I slouched. I was tired from walking outside finding some breakfast that would suit his taste. I even ran just to get here in the building as soon as possible. Because as far as I know, Mr. Huntington wants everything to be on time. I know that I am good at running but not like this wearing two-inch black closed wedge heels. “I am asking you, Miss Merryweather. Answer me properly.” I felt a shiver down my spine upon hearing his authoritative voice. I even stood properly then looked at him. I thought he was mad at me but I saw how his eyes were glinting with amusement. “I just found out how stupid I am. Happy?” I rolled my eyes and twitched my lips. “Why, yes, stupid in what case?” Calm yourself, Cejay. Calm yourself. Don’t shout at your boss. Don’t trigger yourself. You are in his territory... I calmed myself first before I looked at him, straight to his bluish orbs. “I should have called to order your food. What I did is I went outside and even ran back here at a fast pace because what I know from you so far is you are a temperamental person if things didn’t go right on your terms. There! Are you happy now, Your Majesty?” I inhaled and exhaled, getting enough breath because I was exhausted from speaking straightly, not getting enough rest. His neutral expression turned to amusement. “You are right. You are stupid.” I made face and crossed my arms over my chest. “Happy? Did I make your day?” He just grinned. I rolled my eyes. “Great.” I turned my back to storm out from his office so I could grab my own food at the canteen on the fifth floor. But just before I could exit from Mr. Huntington’s office, he called my attention. “Ms. Merrywheather.” “Yeah?” I spun around to face him. “Where do you think are you going?” “To grab my breakfast at the canteen, of course. II am hungry.” This kind of job was already exhausting. If only I didn’t agree to this job, I wouldn’t be the one who will order his food. “Why, yes. Why don’t you join me for breakfast?” “What?” Am I hearing it right? He is asking me to join him to join for breakfast? Okay... I found it suspicious. “I mean... Why?” I asked, confused from his statement earlier. “What do you mean ‘why’?” His brows furrowed. He sounded like he was closed to doing tantrums. That was how I interpret him. “You are weird.” You are risking your job, Cejay for being straightforward to your boss. “I mean, why are you asking me that kind of question?” He is really weird, okay? I am very sure of it. Mr. Huntington tilted his head in confusion. “I don’t understand you, Ms. Merrywheather.” He sighed and massaged my temple. I was about to explain when he spoke again. “I think you are mistaken here, Ms. Merrywheather. Please don’t give malice to my question. I used to ask Ms. Perry to join me for breakfast. The reason why I brought you a meal for two is that I am going to invite you to eat with me.” I suddenly felt my cheeks getting hot from embarrassment from his explanation. What I have in my mind is he was asking me for a date. What the heck is wrong with me today? Compose yourself, Cejay. Don’t show it to Mr. Huntington that you are embarrassed. “T-Then shouldn’t you suppose to ask Ms. Perry, not me?” I managed to ask it although I stammered a little. < His ocean blue orbs bored into mine. “Ms. Perry always comes here at 9 AM so I couldn’t ask her anymore. Since I have a companion starting today, as my personal assistant, might as well you should join me for breakfast. It is a requirement for you, Cejay Merryweather.” I narrowed my eyes at him, not knowing what to do next. I didn’t wish to join him for breakfast. It never occurred to me to be in the same place as Mr. Huntington especially we will eat only the two of us. I want to say no but something was pushing me not to say it. I will eat breakfast with the billionaire tycoon. How surprising this was if Marlou knows about this. I forced a smile at him. “S-Sure.” Requirement my ass. Why does this even a requirement to join me for breakfast? Can’t he eat by himself? I’d rather want my personal space than to be with him. I just couldn’t take staying in the area with him. He was emitting some kind of aura that I couldn’t define at all. Like something was whispering that he was dangerously... Hot? I hissed mentally. Why am I thinking that? “Come. I’ll take you to the balcony,” he said and left his seat. He took the paper bag and urged me to follow him. Hesitant, I followed him as he slid one of the glass windows. As we went outside, my eyes widened in admiration. “Whoa...” I didn’t know we have this in his building. “This landscaping is so beautiful...”What a beautiful garden he has here... They were lots of flowers in the pots and some plants with thorns and no thorns. I felt like I am in a different dimension. Due to my fascination, I approached the flowers that have various colors. “Wow,” I muttered under my breath. I bit my lower lip and smiled. They are so beautiful. I gently tapped their petals. They were so soft and demure. “They are tropical hibiscus.” “I know...” I said, breathless. My eyes were glued to their petals. “They are my favorite...” I was so fascinated by their beauty. I was almost hypnotized by them. “I’m glad you like them. Ms. Perry doesn’t like flowers. She hates it.” “What?” I looked at him in disbelief. “Why would she hate it when they are so beautiful?” I turned my head to the flower whose color is dandelion for the outside and reddish color for its inside. I heard him chuckle. “I know.” He cleared his throat. “Shall we eat then before we start our work, Ms. Merrywheather?” I glanced once again to the tropical hibiscus flowers then turned at Mr. Huntington with a sweet smile on my face. “Sure, boss!”
