Chapter 24

• Dane sat on his office chair and stared hard at nothing. His face wrinkled as his hands carelessly grabbed a fountain pen on the table. He bit into the table, mindlessly as his mind wandered back to the conversation he heard a few days ago. He found himself unable to contain his thoughts and the more he thought about it, the more it felt like he's going to choke to death in his tie. He suddenly loosened his tie and stood up from his seat. He walked to his window and stood there for several minutes, still staring at nothing in particular.
• His mind played the conversation he had eavesdropped on between Alexia and her mother. On the day Mrs Tamas came to visit, he found out from one of his workers at home that she was visiting and knowing the kind of relationship Alexia had with her mother, he wanted to be there with her to support her in case her mother said something hurtful. He wasn't going to let anyone disrespect his wife, regardless of whoever they are but when he got home, his gatekeeper told him she had gone in for quite a while and he became worried that for their conversation to be taking too long, something must be going on so he decided to take the back door in order to go in unnoticed.
• When he walked in through the back door, quietly, he caught some of the words Mrs Tamas was saying to Alexia and the words made him pause in his steps. She was asking Alexis to get a divorce from him and return home since their company was no longer bankrupt and they could afford anything she wanted. He felt surprised that Mrs Tamas would request something like that but instead of waiting to hear Alexia's response, he walked out quietly in the same manner he walked in and drove back to his office immediately and since then, his mother in law's words have somehow managed to bother him.
