• "Thank you, Gerald," I replied, trying to keep any nervousness out of my voice. "I am grateful for your hospitality and protection. I have no intention of causing any trouble for your pack."
• Gerald's expression softened at my words, and he nodded in understanding. "You need not worry, dear Queen. We welcome all wolves needing sanctuary here, regardless of their past affiliations. You are safe here and protected.”
