Chapter 52

  • Angelina
  • I tossed in my bed and tried to sleep. My mind couldn't stop thinking about Danzel and Scarlett. It kept replaying the scene about watching them walk out. I was in the kitchen helping Yara when Susan entered with Philip by her side. My smile vanished when I saw Scarlett, walking in with a plastered smile on her face. I was stunned at her beauty. The dress looked magnificent on her as she swayed her hips. But when my eyes landed on the man beside her, my stomach dropped. Jealousy washed over my heart when I saw them walk away. I had my back towards them when they were leaving but I could feel the intense gaze of blue eyes staring at me. I had the urge to walk at him and yell but didn't. The way James Parker had praised her beauty and how lovely Danzel and Scarlett looked together was not a compliment for Scarlett, but was indirect, a taunt to me. The comment and the look James Parker gave me didn't go unnoticed by Danzel, but what surprised me was that Danzel was silent the whole time. His face remained tight with the lips set in thin line and fists clenched. When Scarlett kissed his cheek, his eyes turned to me. But as soon as his eyes met mine, I turned my face and walked away. I was too angry to cry. I heard the sound of car engine turning in the driveway indicating that they were back.
  • I could hear her feminine chirpy voice telling James how much she enjoyed the party. I could hear her talking to Danzel about how amazing a company he was. Now that she was home, why couldn't she just leave him? Or were they planning on, spending the rest of the night together, in each other's arms?
