Chapter 49

  • I stared at the person standing at his full height. It's been years, years I had lost count on. My father, my daddy, my hero, my idol was standing in front of me. Black hair is now replaced with a bald head. He had grown a beard which made him look older. I could, still, faintly remember the day he had walked out of the house, never once looking back, never turning around to see that his little princess was crying for him. I waited for him to come, come back to me. He had promised to never leave me, to protect me from everything. He had so much to make it up to. He'd never let me cry before but after his departure, I spent hours in my bedroom crying for him. I never knew the reason why he left my mother and me. I had an idea that it wasn't something simple. But till date, my mother never spoke about it. He went away, walked out like we never mattered to him. He looked the same, just old. The warmth, his eyes once held, was no longer seen. They were cold. Honey's brown eyes were now icy. I stood rooted to the ground. Too many emotions rushed through my mind as I stared at the man standing in front of me.
  • "F...father." I stammered at my words.
