Chapter 4

• The next day early in the morning I was still in bed, when I heard someone knocking on my door. I had a terrible dream last night but I managed to sleep after twisting and turning around. I managed to drag myself out of the bed and opened the door to find Jackie barging in and hugging me and she made sure she closed the door.
• I saw that she was carrying some shopping bags and I looked at her curiously while she made herself comfortable on the sofa beside the window.
• "What are in these bags? Did you go shopping early in the morning?" I asked her as I looked up and saw the time, it was eleven in the morning I must have overslept. Usually when I come for the weekend, everyone lets me sleep late as they think I only work and don’t have time to sleep.
• Jackie gave me a mischievous smile and said,” Yes, I had yesterday, I bought few dresses for myself and for you. I know you have not gone shopping for a long time, so I thought I will help you out and buy you few dresses.
• I looked at her keenly and knew that she was planning something. So I said, “ That’s very considerate of you Jackiebut what is going on in your mind you tell me that first.”
• “Oh! Jamie why are you so suspicious, I just thought it’s a special occasion so you should look the best as you are our family too and my best friend. Come on now put these dresses on and show it to me.”
• She took out the dresses and I went to the wash room to try it on. I tried everything and all were too sexy. I never wear revealing clothes. I was feeling very shy.
• I told Jackie, I won’t wear any of those but she is very adamant and finally after a lot of if and buts. She selected a torques coloured dress with matching silver earrings . It had a long cut and it showed my legs and calves. It had a deep cut behind.
• I shook my head and said she was as bad as her brother.
• “Blake? Did he come to visit you?” Jackie said curiously.
• “No, he did not.” I replied.
• "I see, when did he come? I am sorry I forgot to mention that he has returned."
• "Last evening and no he did not come to meet me. He came to meet my brothers."
• "Whatever it’s the same.” Jackie laughed.
• "So you are still fighting with him huh?" Jackie asked.
• "What fight with him? I have no better work." I said rolling my eyes.
• "I think both of you are in love with each other but you are not admitting. I would love you as a sister in law.
• “Throw Serena out of your house and I will give a shot at Frank.” I said smiling.
• “Frank will not be able to control you, you are very wild Jamie.” Jackie laughed.
• Then count me out according to your older brother I don’t know how to seduce men it seems." I told her sarcastically.
• "He has been taking care of you since you were quite young Jamie so he always bullies you." She looked at me and said thoughtfully.
• "Jamie I need to tell you something, Serena is now after Blake." Jackie said seriously.
• "What! " I went quite still and Jackie continued.
• "It appears that she knew him before she met Frank in London. She is moving all around the house following him. Frank is quite angry. Mom is quite furious and so am I. You can help me to embarrass her at the party by looking your best and I will make sure you look sexy and wanton today. All eyes will be on you and Serena will be furious."
• “I can’t do anything; you know how nervous I become whenever Blake is around. If he knows we are plotting something we will both be dead.” I said looking scared.” I don’t think I will be coming.”
• “You are. If you don’t I will fetch you.” Jackie said determinedly.
• “ Jamie, I hope you are not too serious about Brett. Though he is particularly good looking. I somehow don’t like him. And I have a feeling that if he marries you we will have to meet secretly. Jackie said in a very serious tone.
• “I am very serious about marrying Brett,” I said. I was about to blurt out about Blake’s proposal but I thought of telling her later as Jackie cannot keep her mouth shut. I am sure she will blabber it in front of her mother.
• Just then there was a knock on the door and Lisa came in with a plate loaded with food.
• She smiled and told us to enjoy our brunch and left.
• As soon as she left Nick entered and looked at Jackie before speaking.
• “So what happened to the red hot phone line, some disturbance huh! No wonder you came running here." Nick teased Jackie and I was laughing.
• Jackie was red and she blushed.
• But did not say anything. Jackie was always surprised at herself, as when ever Nick was around her she was speechless. Although her mouth ran like a scissor but in front of him she hardly opened her mouth.
• She started gobbling the food kept on the table.
• Nick winked at me and laughing away went out of the room.
• “You know I would love to see you as my sister in law and you need to hurry and tell him about your feelings or someone else will beat you in that. “I told her warningly and giggled.
• Her mouth was full of food and she was grunting, she looked so adorable and funny, I fell on the bed laughing.
• After some time it was quite late so Jackie decided to do a bit of my make up and hair and left, warning me to come or she will send Blake to fetch me.
• I shook my head as she left and thought these Edwards’s are too dominating.
