Chapter 6 He's Right, Let Me Go Please

  • Just like that, in a matter of seconds, I feared for my life.
  • "Boss! Give the order, we've got to get out of here, now!" shouted Pipe.
  • Darren looked at me in frustration, his jaw clenched so tight it threatened to crack, his hands steady and imposing, Pipe with a gun in his hand, the gunfire outside, and my legs numb with fear.
  • "Damn it, let's go now, Pipe!" he ordered.
  • Without further ado, I remained silent and closed my eyes for a few seconds, just hoping that they would go away and the fear, like the bullets, would stop.
  • But instead, I felt his piercing gaze watching me silently, not even flinching.
  • When I opened my eyes, I met his, empty, fearless, terrorless.
  • "Sir, we have to go," Pipe demanded again.
  • "Leia's coming with us," he muttered.
  • "No! I didn't do anything, Darren! Don't do this to me! I swear I never wanted to turn you in, I just wanted to hear from you! I just wanted to know the truth!" I screamed in fear.
  • "Sir," Pipe got Darren's attention again. "It's dangerous for her to come, she could be an infiltrator! She could hurt us, turn us in!" he shouted. "Damn it boss, she could be the one to turn us in!" he claimed, raising his arms in the air.
  • Darren just clenched his jaw again and denied it.
  • Finally, in one swift movement, he grabbed me and threw my body over his shoulder like a sack of potatoes.
  • "Let me go! Let me go!" I yelled, throwing punches at his back. "I don't want to go! I want to stay!" I yelled at the top of my lungs.
  • Darren didn't even flinch from my blows, tantrums, and shots outside. He continued on his way, not even flinching a little in the face of my heavy body.
  • "This is a lousy plan! The worst you've had in a long time, boss!" shouted Pipe, pointing at everyone.
  • Darren didn't say another word for a moment. In a matter of seconds we were out of the room and running to one of the vans.
  • Darren climbed in the back with me, and Pipe had no choice but to take the wheel.
  • The real shooting came when they started hitting the car. My screams were unrestrained and
  • uncontrollable.
  • "We're going to die! I don't want to die!" I asked very quickly. "Let me go! I didn't do anything!" I shouted through my tears.
  • Without further ado, Pipe started the car and drove off without thinking, the shooting outside was still going on.
  • Darren grabbed my shoulders and stared at me, forcing me to look at him.
  • "Listen to me, damn it, stop screaming, I'm just looking out for you, I'm saving you!" he yelled carelessly. "You think it's safe to stay here, there's a hail of bullets out there! Nothing will happen to you here! Pipe is a sniper and a great driver, not to mention it's an armored truck!" he explained angrily.
  • "But I didn't do anything! I'm not guilty! I can stay!" I argued anxiously as I watched the car continue to drive and the gunfire get louder and louder.
  • "They don't see if you're innocent or not! They're just shooting bullets without seeing who they're hurting or killing!" he shouted in frustration. "Damn it... Just listen to me. Let me think," he demanded, running his hands over his head in frustration.
  • "Sir," Pipe called from behind the wheel. "This woman will bring us trouble, we have too much already," he warned. "We can leave her here, vanquish her," he whispered through his teeth, looking at him from the rearview mirror.
  • "Erase them?" I asked frustrated and scared. "I don't want to die! I don't want to die!" I yelled, trying to jump out of the car, but now I understood, the doors wouldn't open.
  • "Damn it! I'm not going to hurt you! Calm down!" he yelled again, grabbing me tightly. "Pipe! Leia is staying with us, I'm telling you for the last time," he said angrily.
  • Pipe sighed, "Then what am I going to do, sir, where are we going? I'm just running around without a destination!" he claimed. "What are we going to do?"
  • Darren laughed sarcastically. "Where are we going Pipe, you look like you don't work for me! Let's go home!" he shouted hysterically.
  • Once again Pipe looked at me from the rearview mirror. "What about her?" he asked anxiously.
  • "For God's sake, Pipe, I told you she's coming with us!" he said, already frustrated.
  • "Sir, she'll know everything. It's risky, she might betray us later," he asked wearily.
  • Darren rubbed his hands over his head and face in frustration and finally looked at me out of the corner of his eye, looking back at him from the rearview mirror.
  • "We'll be fine, Leia won't say anything," he confirmed.
  • "How does she know!!! she could be the cause of all this! Damn it, Darren! What's wrong with you!!!?" he shouted already frustrated.
  • Just like that, in a matter of seconds, Darren pulled a gun from his pocket and carelessly shot Pipe in the back of the head.
  • He stared at him from the rearview mirror and sighed without moving. What's the matter, Pipe? It just so happens that I'm the boss and you're the fucking employee," he shouted without shuddering. "I give the orders and you follow them! And when I tell you to go home and that Leia is coming with us, it's because it is! And you will obey!" he warned for the last time.
  • Pipe just nodded, took one last look at me in the rearview mirror, and drove off.
  • Darren put the gun down, my hands shaking with fear, my legs still or even sleepier than before. My tears were falling and my heart was about to jump out of my chest.
  • "He's right, let me go... Please," I begged in a whisper. "I'm not part of this, I'm not part of your world, I'm just a stupid reporter with a dream that ended very badly," I whispered through my tears.
  • He gently reached up to wipe away my tears with his thumb. Sighing, I finally refused and pulled out a small handkerchief that I would leave on my leg.
  • "You're not a stupid reporter, Leia. Right now you're just scared," he whispered.
  • He stared at me for a few more minutes, finally wiping my tears with the handkerchief, and as soon as I held it in my hands and brought it up to my face, I could recognize the smell.
  • I pressed the handkerchief tightly over my face, brought it to my nose and finally the fear disappeared, my body felt like it was floating through space and silence reached my ears.
  • Darren had drugged me, put me to sleep. And I, I had fallen.
