Chapter 4 Begin Retaliating

  • "F*ck off!"
  • At that, Wilbur left Serena's office with a triumphant smile.
  • After watching Wilbur close the door, Serena immediately forwarded the recording to Trevor.
  • Though she had agreed to Wilbur's demand on the surface, she was still exasperated within. It was best that she used Trevor to get rid of Wilbur. That way, she'd be able to sleep better like that.
  • Very quickly, Trevor's call came.
  • "Come to my office!"
  • With that, Serena headed straight to the man's office.
  • Once she entered and locked the door from the inside, Trevor pointed at her and lashed out, "Didn't you say that Wilbur had left? What is this then?!"
  • Serena was filled with utter grievances as well, and she approached Trevor with a pout.
  • "I didn't see him when I went out of my office after receiving his email last night, so I thought he had already left. Who'd have thought he was in the men's room?!"
  • "He went to you just now?" Trevor looked quizzically at her.
  • "Yeah. He even threatened me, demanding that I become his," Serena whined as she slowly sat on Trevor's lap. "You have to help me, Trevor. I only have you in my heart, and I will never agree to his demand even if I have to die for it."
  • On the other hand, Trevor felt bad for her when he saw how upset the woman was.
  • "How dare that loser threaten us with this! I'm going to show him who's the boss. Go back to your office first. Meanwhile, tell him to come and see me!"
  • Serena hummed a response at that and strode out of Trevor's office.
  • However, upon reaching the work area, she saw people surrounding Wilbur and Zeke as the two fought each other.
  • Wilbur gave Zeke a hook on the face, causing blood to trickle down from the corner of Zeke's mouth the next second.
  • "I bet you've forgotten how you f*cking kneeled in front of me and begged me to give you some of my clients!" Wilbur pointed at Zeke as he lashed out, "How dare you start ordering me around when you're beginning to perform now? Who the f*ck do you think you are?! Pfft!"
  • A livid Zeke pointed at Wilbur as well and snapped, "Wilbur, you… you mad dog! How can you go around snapping at people just because you're incompetent?!"
  • Meanwhile, Serena walked up to them and shouted, "What are all of you standing here for? Get back to work!"
  • At that, everyone went back to their stations.
  • Zeke wanted to say something, but Serena shot him a look, so he returned to his desk as well.
  • When Zeke first entered Labyrinth, Wilbur was a supervisor and was even the departmental sales champion for three years. Needless to say, he was a stand-out worker.
  • At that time, Zeke would follow Wilbur like a sycophant; only then did Wilbur take him under his wing.
  • Later on, Zeke's sales performance was so poor at one point that he was on the brink of being fired. He had only managed to stay because Wilbur gave Zeke some of his clients.
  • However, ever since Wilbur got into trouble because of the defects he had purchased from Jane's brother, Zeke began acting like he was Wilbur's boss.
  • So be it that he acted disrespectfully toward Wilbur, but he even ordered Wilbur like he was an errand boy, obviously having completely forgotten about his past kindness.
  • Wilbur would consider many things in the past and let things go just like that. However, now that he had something on Serena and Trevor, he would no longer tolerate Zeke again.
  • While Zeke returned to his desk, Serena turned to Wilbur and said coldly, "Mr. Mayhall wants to see you in his office now!"
  • To that, Wilbur looked up at her and replied disdainfully, "I'm in a bad mood right now. I want to go out for some fresh air. Tell Trevor I'll go to him when I'm in a better mood."
  • "You—"
  • Before Serena could say another word, Wilbur had already stormed straight ahead.
  • Right as he entered the elevator after walking out of Labyrinth Systems, Wilbur's phone pinged.
  • He checked it reflexively to find the profile of the man who had sent Jane home as well as his wife's.
  • He had ventured into the industry for some time, after all, so it was only natural he had a few connections.
  • The man was Jackson Quinn, a director of a major night child care center, and when Wilbur saw the picture of Jackson's wife, his breath was taken away.
  • She was leagues above Serena, be it in appearance, figure, or temperament.
  • Slowly, Wilbur's lips curved into an evil grin…
