Chapter 16 Woman's Revenge

  • After Wilbur watched the recording, he called up Rachel, who picked up quickly.
  • "Are you trying to disgust me with this video? Don't worry, I keep my promises. I won't bother you anymore after this," said Wilbur coldly.
  • "I only showed you this video because I want to receive the same fairness you did," Rachel replied coolly.
  • "What do you mean by that?" Wilbur asked, frowning.
  • Even though he didn't know Rachel very well, he knew that Rachel was a strong woman based on his interaction with her in the office this morning.
  • He vividly remembered the look of hatred in her eyes when she looked at him. Thus, Wilbur was surprised to hear her say those words just now.
  • "I want to get revenge on you the same way you got revenge on me today. This is absolute fairness. Don't you think so?"
  • Wilbur was even more surprised at Rachel's words; did the woman actually want to get revenge on him in the exact same way?
  • Wilbur replied while sneering, "Miss Sadler, what do you hope to get by dealing with me? I know you look down on me, but I always keep my promises. Relax! From now on, we have nothing to do with each other. Even if I want to exact revenge on your husband, I will go to him myself and leave you alone."
  • Even though Rachel said that she wanted to get revenge on Wilbur in the same way, Wilbur thought it ironic.
  • How could a man of his position get the exact same revenge from Rachel? If it really were the case, then it wasn't revenge anymore. On the contrary, it was a sort of blessing!
  • "I'll be waiting for you in my office at 10.00AM tomorrow. I hope you keep your promise."
  • "I can't make it tomorrow morning. I have an appointment with a client to get a contract signed."
  • "In that case, I'll wait until noon!"
  • Rachel was quite the vengeful woman, for she was so stubborn when it came to such things.
  • Also, now that Wilbur thought about it, he gradually realized that she should've known early on that Jackson had an affair with Jane.
  • This woman was absolutely terrifying!
  • Wilbur smiled bitterly, exasperated. "I'd be hungry at noon. How would I have the energy…"
  • "That's your problem. If I don't see you at noon, I will get revenge on you in the most extreme ways!"
  • With that, Rachel hung up before Wilbur could reply.
  • Wilbur put his phone back in his pants pocket, then gave his cheeks a firm slap with both his hands. It hurt, which meant this was real.
  • "Is Rachel masochistic or something? Dang! That gave me chills," he said to himself.
  • While Wilbur pondered about it, he got on his scooter and made his way back home.
  • Once he got to the ground floor of his home, he parked his scooter at the designated spot. Before he could turn around, sudden noises that sounded like two loud pops startled him.
  • He thought the battery had exploded, but when he turned around and took a closer look, those were actually the sounds of two beer bottles being smashed.
  • "You're Wilbur Leeds, aren't you!"
  • Hearing that, Wilbur raised his head and looked in front of him. Several yards away, five men were walking toward him. The man in the lead had a cigarette in his mouth and a jacket on his shoulders. His gait was like a ruffian, and he also wore sunglasses.
  • "Are you wearing sunglasses at night? Is your brain fried or something?" Wilbur looked at them in disdain.
  • "I'm asking you a question. Are you that damned Wilbur or not?" Gus pointed aggressively at Wilbur as he continued to ask.
  • "Yes, that's me. What business do you have with me?"
  • Wilbur quickly scanned the five men. Every one of them was armed, and they were obviously prepared to pummel him.
  • Hearing that, Gus waved his right hand and shouted, "Get him!"
  • When his four subordinates received the orders, they all raised the weapons in their hands and ran toward Wilbur.
  • Seeing that, the latter speedily turned around and grabbed a broken bicycle before swinging it around at the four men.
  • While he fended off the weapons with the bicycle, he landed kicks on his assailants. Soon, the four of them were lying on the ground.
  • Wilbur tossed the bicycle aside and curled a finger at Gus. "Now, it's your turn. Bring it on!"
