Chapter 12 Have Something Together

  • Wilbur ruffled Marcus' hair with his right hand and said with a smile, "No one is allowed to bully you and your mom when I'm around."
  • "Yeah!"
  • Marcus looked at Wilbur with unyielding conviction like he finally had someone he could rely on. His eyes were beaming, and they were filled with confidence.
  • Catherine, on the other hand, was sizing Wilbur up. She didn't remember ever meeting this guy.
  • Meanwhile, Wilbur looked coldly at Buck Smith and his parents, saying, "You guys are the ones here being terrible parents, yet you dare to yap away. You two sure are shameless!"
  • Just then, a female teacher came out. She happened to be Marcus and Buck's homeroom teacher.
  • Following that, Buck and his parents left with a grudge in the end after her mediation.
  • Similarly, Wilbur and the Lyons headed out of the school after that.
  • At that, Catherine smiled at Wilbur. "I don't think we've met before this. You are?"
  • "Hello, Miss Lyon," said Wilbur with a smile as he handed her his business card. "I'm Wilbur Leeds from Labyrinth Systems' marketing department."
  • Catherine's smile gradually faded as she guessed, "You've come to sell me your product too, haven't you?"
  • "That's right." Wilbur chuckled under his breath. "I came especially to meet you. Allow me to clarify this, though. Standing up for you guys has nothing to do with selling my product."
  • "You're quite honest. I'm surprised."
  • Just then, Marcus tugged on his mother's hand, saying he was hungry and that he'd like to have something to eat.
  • After hearing Marcus' request, Catherine wanted to turn Wilbur down, but who'd have thought Marcus invited him with a smile. "Are you hungry, Sir? Why don't you join us?"
  • "Well, I…"
  • "Come on, have something with Marcus. Consider it as thanks for sticking up for us."
  • At that, Wilbur nodded with a smile and obliged.
  • "By the way, did you drive here?" Catherine asked.
  • "I came on an electric motorcycle." Wilbur pointed to it with a smile. "You guys just drive. I'll follow right behind."
  • To that, she handed her car keys to him and asked, "Do you know how to drive?"
  • "I do, Miss Lyon."
  • "Casterie, Center Street. I'm a little tired now, and I'd like to take a break."
  • Wilbur hurriedly took the car keys and followed the Lyons to their car.
  • Catherine drove a red luxury car worth about three million. Though Wilbur had been driving for ten years, considerably a veteran at this point, he had never driven such a sweet car before.
  • He was so excited that his hands were sweating profusely when he grabbed the steering wheel.
  • While driving, Wilbur chatted with Marcus who was sitting in the back seat. Marcus kept asking him a bunch of whatnots, but in short, Wilbur felt quite awkward.
  • Center street was Sanlow's busiest area, while Casterie was a patisserie with a pretty high price tag.
  • Twenty minutes later, they arrived at Casterie, and Wilbur followed the Lyons in after parking the car.
  • Catherine often brought Marcus here, so he was familiar with this place.
  • After sitting down, he began ordering what he wanted.
  • Once he was done, he let Catherine know he'd be elsewhere before doing so.
  • Later, Catherine turned to Wilbur. "Make yourself comfortable and order whatever you'd like."
  • "I'll just get a drink. I'm not really hungry now," Wilbur replied with a smile.
  • At that, she curved her lips into a smile while looking at him.
  • "You're quite different from the other guy, Zeke. He started talking about his product the moment we met, but you didn't."
  • "Well, you did mention you're tired. Surely, you'll get turned off if I talk about all that now, so why don't we leave that for later?"
  • "Are you married?" Catherine asked, curious.
  • "I am."
  • "Do you have children?"
  • "Not yet."
  • "Do you not have plans, or…"
