Chapter 61

  • I witnessed Jack Josephs arrive at the mansion just in time to witness my genuine apology and plea. His fists clenched and his jaw hardened. His only daughter was Lydia. When I got the chance to spend time with her, I did not cherish her. How could I just walk into his house and apologize and beg for another chance as if I could so easily forget my past errors?
  • Jack's biggest regret was losing his daughter when she was abducted by traffickers at a very young age. He never watched her march into first grade, or take her shopping when she became an adolescent girl. He never had the chance to take her to the high school dance nor even graduate. after having wasted so much time with his daughter and wishing that he had not been there to protect her or to make her happy, he did not wish her to endure anymore.
  • Seeing the man who had taken his daughter's love for granted beg for a chance, anger crossed Jack's mind. He took a step closer and said, "Over my dead body."
