Chapter 9
- Carla's POV
- "I didn't do this. I was set up." I pleaded and looked over to the Alpha for help hoping he would believe me.
- He picked up the bag of money and walked out of the room without even looking back.
- "Sir!" I screamed and tried holding him but the Luna pulled me away from him and I fell to the floor, hurting my left arms and cheek. She likewise headed downstairs.
- Upon reaching the edge of the stairs, she stopped and turned abruptly. "You are spending the rest of your life in jail. Nessian, call the cops. We have a criminal here."
- "Luna. Please. I didn't do this. I will never steal." I pleaded, hoping she would have a change of heart. But it seems I will keep hoping because this is real.
- She came up, grabbed me and led me downstairs. We got to the living room and she threw me to the floor while she sat on the couch, cross legged.
- "I can't believe you can do this to us Carla. If people could be so ungrateful, I never thought you could be among them, when you are just leaving tomorrow. The Alpha and I were planning to throw a big party for you, and add a million dollars for you to take with you and start a new life but you just ruined everything." She said, and I nearly slumped upon hearing such a huge amount of money that was budgeted for me, which the wicked twins had aborted. The Luna didn't even look at me. I could feel she was in pain and seriously disappointed. I held my chest to stop myself from getting a seizure because I'm breathing so fast at this moment. Right now, all the words have escaped from my mind. I have nothing to say, even if I had something to say, no one would believe me!
- "Mom, they are on their way." Nessian announced walking down the stairs. They both looked at me smiling to their heart content. I would never forgive them for this. Have I ever offended them? Why don't they want me to leave here peacefully with no problem. The torture they've given me for years, aren't they enough.
- I took the hem of my dress and wiped my running nose with it. There's no way out of this. I heard the siren from a distance. My heart beat faster as everything became more real. I realized I am not waking up from this dream. It's real.
- The siren came closer as they honked in front of our gate. The gate opened automatically from the remote being operated by Nessian and they drove in a haste like they were coming to get the criminal before he escaped. I was the criminal they were coming to arrest, an innocent girl assumed a criminal.
- They walked in and greeted the Luna who stood up to welcome them at the entrance of the apartment. "Take her. She's the one and I don't want her away from prison anytime soon. She might even need to spend the rest of her life over there." Georgia said without sparing any glance on me. An officer among the cops came forward, grabbed my hands behind me and handcuffed me.
- "Ma! Please don't do this! You know I will never do this. You know I will never steal." I begged her as they pulled me out forcefully. They threw me into the back of the van. I held the rails tightly and bit my lips in pain. Why does this have to happen to me? Am I cursed? There's no doubt that I am cursed. Why does this have to happen to me when I'm about to leave this place? Why? Why am I being treated like a criminal that I'm not!
- I wiped my tears and sat upright looking at the outside from the window. It was at this point I realized that other occupants of the estate were around, on a normal day, you wouldn't see anyone around. You might think we are the only ones living in the entire estate. They descended to the floor of the estate and looked at me like I was the worst criminal on earth when I hadn't done anything. I received the instinct from my wolf that the journey forward will be hard but I must face it head-on.
- I was transported to the only prison the pack had, a large one which was located many miles away. When we arrived, a female warder came up to take me to my cell. I wondered if this was how inmates were taken in, no one asked me what I did, they just took me in.
- "Do we have another visitor?" Another female colleague of hers asked with a sarcastic tone as she passed by.
- "Yeah, this young lady". The female warden replied. Inside this cell were two other girls who seemed like hard drug addicts, making it three with me. Immediately the door got pushed back and locked, I feared for my life, outside not being in such a place like this, these aren't good companies. From their faces, they were hardened.
- "This cell is still scanty." The female warden murmured and left immediately. I walked to a corner of the room and sat down, leaning on the wall. I looked at the other two and they threw fierce glances at me like I'm the one who made them come here. I shriek in horror but try my best not to make it too obvious so they wouldn't take advantage of this weakness of mine and bully me.
- I had been staying here for three nights, and I must say that it hasn't been such a pleasant experience, the girls here are real bullies and they wouldn't let me be, each time they are always on my nerves with no one to stop them and I can't get out either. Coupled with the tension of having to be here for the first time, it became a hellish experience.
- "Wake up." I heard a loud bang on our cell. The female warden brought out food. They woke up and yawned loudly. I moved closer and collected our food, passing the two other plates to the girls.
