- “I can’t believe you two,” I muttered under my breath, my voice barely rising above a whisper. My hands were shaking as I gripped the edge of the table, trying to steady myself. The brothers—Damian and Rogan—stood across from me, their faces set with grim determination. They had pushed me to this point, and now they were scrambling, desperate to fix what they had broken.
- “Ava, please,” Rogan said, his voice low and pleading, though there was a hint of frustration in his tone. “We didn’t mean for things to get this far. We—”
- “Didn’t mean to?” I interrupted sharply, cutting him off before the words could go any further. “You two have been manipulating me, using me like some pawn in your game. Don’t stand there and tell me you didn’t mean for it to get this far.”
