Chapter 22
- Marie's voice rang out, strong and steady, and her hold on Mr. Harrington's wrist tightened. "What on earth are you doing, Mr. Harrington?"
- His eyes had been hardened with a fierce determination; they had once been kind and focused. Leaning closer, he felt his breath warm against her cheek rather than pulling away. He whispered, "If I were Max, I wouldn't treat you this way," with a startling blend of earnestness and need.
- Marie became enraged, feeling like she was on fire. She pressed against his chest and shouted, "Stop this right now." Mr. Harrington, though, was unrelenting. Her power did not appear to be enough to stop his relentless attempts.
