Chapter 14

• Marie was sitting in Liam's car in the passenger seat with her hands safe in her lap. As she looked out the window, her mind kept going back to the argument she had with Max.
• Liam kept his eyes on the road ahead as he walked through the city streets. He cleared his throat. "Marie," he said in a soft, comforting voice. "I know that back there, it might have seemed like Max misunderstood our relationship."
• Marie turned to look at him with a frown on her face. The worry in her words made her ask, "What do you mean?"
