- Marie got out of the car feeling the weight of the evening heavy on her shoulders. Her responsibilities were starkly reminded of by the family house's extravagant front, which loomed right in front of her.
- She took a long breath and her will weakened as she approached the door.
- She entered the dimly lit hallway and it seemed oddly silent. Her grandfather's study door was just slightly open, letting warm light flood the otherwise dark hall.
