• I was running faster than I had ever run in my entire life. When I saw the mountain peaks in the distance, I knew I was almost there. But no matter how fast I ran, the sun was faster. By the time I reached the guard tower, it had set and darkness spread over us.
• Small craters could be seen on the ground in front of the gate and mangled corpses of ghouls lay everywhere. Shredded by bombs and bullets. The gatehouse was smoking a little. I felt a short gust of wind and Vlad, Marcus and Hector landed next to me. One by one, more of the vampires followed.
