Chapter 36

• I switched off the TV again because, despite staring at it intensely, I don't even know what I'm watching. In the end, I picked up the last book I had started reading and went to bed. Apparently I ended up falling asleep over the book too, when a hand gently stroking me woke me up. When I opened my eyes, Dragan was sitting next to me on the edge of the bed, my book in his hand. I rubbed my eyes awake and tried to fight the light from the windows.
• "You read in Latin?"
• "Many historical writings on the European continent were in Latin, or at least translated into Latin by the church, and I needed it for my medical degree anyway."
