Chapter 30

• The rest of the day was rather quiet, partly because more than half of the men and women were out of the house with the brothers. I finished work early and went to the gym, where I did my laps on the treadmill. Afterwards, I ate something in my room and read a book from the library, a treatise on medieval weapons in Latin. It was already late, after midnight, when there was a knock and Martin came rushing into the room with Hector. Both of their clothes were soaked in blood.
• "What happened to you?"
• "An ambush... the camp was prepared. We were attacked. Please come, we need your help."
