- “Contact Janis and update her on the progress with the construction and remind her to send the detailed plans for the opening show.” I read off the list in my hand distracted. Adeline was sat right across from me, her legs tucked tightly in a child’s pose, making it impossible to miss their silky smooth texture. Her shoulders and entire body were more rigid than a pole but her chest heaved up and down as she let out a slow breath. As if sensing my gaze, her eyes drifted from the television and towards the corner of the couch I sat.
- “Sir, can you still hear me?” Luke’s voice broke through the haze. Plans. Focus. I snapped my eyes back to the list, barely a second from being caught oogling. The admission left a bitter taste in my mouth, I shouldn’t be oogling. I shouldn’t even look at her for more than the necessary check ins and only in public, not in the comfort of the living area of a hotel where no one could see us. So why was I?
