• I ride along quietly with Roman. I dare not say too much. I can tell his mind is running in a thousand places, worried about his sister. I do not understand how he feels, so I will not try to pretend like I do. I think Roman wants silence while we ride to Benton's house, so that I will give it to him.
• Roman turns down a long driveway. "We need to hide the car and walk up to the house. I know Benton and his goons are watching for us," Roman says.
