Chapter 57
- Gala glanced over her shoulder for what felt like the tenth time, eyes searching for the darkness behind her where she’d left Selena and Mike. But Dice kept urging her forward, moving at a pace that was hard to match. Whatever the girl was wearing on her feet, it gave her speed—unnatural speed. Or maybe there was something in her soles? Still, Gala’s mind lingered behind them, stuck on the two people she’d just met. What’s going to happen to them? Will they get caught?
- “They’re safe, sir,” Dice said calmly, her fingers flying across her interface, still working through the system. Alexander hadn’t held back—he’d tried to shut down everything she was doing. But in the split second she had before being locked out, Dice had managed to extract vital data on Bellamie Rosaline. It was already secured in a file so heavily encrypted; no one would be able to touch it.
- “How am I supposed to be calm, Dice?” Gala snapped. “There were dozens of troops headed to that room!”
