• This morning’s conversation had left Gala unusually on edge. His thoughts were scattered, his focus nonexistent—and it showed. Chaos seemed to follow him wherever he moved, undoing the progress he’d made in the past few weeks. Mr. Kim, who had just recently started praising his improved performance, now looked ready to burst a vein.
• Even his relationship with Hanry had been going smoothly. And Luke—the arrogant colleague who once refused to acknowledge his presence—had finally started treating him differently. That wary glance Luke gave him lately. Gala had a hunch it was fear. Maybe Luke couldn’t quite wrap his head around what Gala had done that night.
• Not that Gala could, either. All he felt now was guilt.
