  • Returning to the pack felt like exhaling after holding my breath for too long. The familiar crackling of gravel beneath our boots, the bustle of life in the inside the packhouse—it all welcomed me like an old friend. Though we’d only been gone a few days, it felt like I had left for a year.
  • As we dismounted our bikes, Lyra walked beside me, her hand nestled gently in mine. Her fingers were small and soft, but her grip was sure. Her scent lingered in the air around me, something uniquely her. A breeze passed, carrying her fragrance and a sense of calm I hadn’t known I needed.
