- The moon cast its silver glow across the open field, painting everything in shades of quiet determination. In the distance, a few animals chewed their cuds lazily, unbothered by the tension that had tightened the night like a noose around my chest. My back ached from sitting too long, nerves twitching under my skin like they could sense something coming.
- I couldn’t afford to return without Lyra. The thought of her—hurt, scared, or worse. Every second without her was a second too long.
