Chapter 9 The Billionaire Jack Sawyer

  • Stanley nodded and hummed in response.
  • Alex looked up to the sky and sighed, lost in contemplation over whether to end his marriage with Heather.
  • He would not want to resort to that unless there were no other options.
  • In addition to his feelings for Heather, Alex was consumed with worry that Stanley would not cope well with the divorce.
  • After leaving the house with Stanley on an electric scooter, Alex spotted Heather and Carmen getting into Walt's car at the nearby junction.
  • Fury surged inside Alex, and he decided to follow them on his electric scooter.
  • Upon arriving at Cloud Casino, Heather caught sight of Lucas kneeling before a group of burly men.
  • “Sis, help me!” Lucas cried the moment he saw Heather.
  • “Shut up before I turn you into a cripple!” One of the men kicked Lucas, causing a sharp pang of sorrow to shoot through Carmen's heart.
  • As a mother who had always spoiled her son, Carmen could not help but start crying upon seeing Lucas' swollen, bruised face.
  • “Gentlemen, my brother is an ignorant young man. Please don't take it out on him,” Heather said after she took a deep breath.
  • “Oh? It looks like we have a hot chick here. You're this useless b*stard's sister? You look nothing like him,” one of the men commented.
  • These burly men sized Heather up with their lustful eyes.
  • One of them even took a step forward and lifted his hand, wanting to touch her face.
  • Heather put her guard up and backed away.
  • “Don't worry. I'll be gentle with you.” The young man burst into laughter.
  • The other men followed suit.
  • Teasing women was a common habit for these men.
  • “Gentlemen, I'm Walt Wallace of Wallace Corporation. Could you please do me a favor and let him off?” Walt stood in front of Heather and grinned at the men.
  • At that moment, he felt like a hero and was confident that those men would show him some respect upon hearing the name of his family.
  • The Wallace family was quite influential in Nebula City, so hooligans would not dare to cross them.
  • Carmen and Heather heaved sighs of relief when Walt finally stepped forward to defuse the tension.
  • They, too, believed that those men would show Walt respect, considering the influence that the Wallace family had in the city.
  • “What's so special about the Wallace family? Why do you think I should respect you?” the young man sneered and looked at Walt teasingly. “Do you know who I am? I'm Chris Tucker, and my brother-in-law is the CEO of Four Seas Corporation. Why should I respect you just because you're from the Wallace family?”
  • Chris glared at Walt condescendingly.
  • Walt, Heather, and Carmen were left speechless, and their eyes were filled with despair. He's the billionaire Jack Sawyer's brother-in-law! No one dares to step on his toes!
  • Walt could not help but cuss in his heart. Sh*t! I wouldn't have stepped in to help had I known the person Lucas offended was Chris!
  • Even if the combined wealth of the Wallace family were pooled together, it still would not come close to the immense fortune Jack owned.
  • Walt forced a smile and clenched his teeth before replying, “That's not what I meant, Mr. Tucker. Lucas is my brother-in-law, and he has a mental disability. He has been that way since he was a child. I hope you can forgive him if he has unintentionally done something to offend you.”
  • “Save it. This dude owes me five million. I'll release him only if he pays me back the money. If he can't come up with the full amount, I'll slowly break all of his fingers,” Chris warned indifferently.
  • Walt could not help but knit his brows. Five million? How dare that good-for-nothing get involved with such a large sum of money?
  • “Since you're his brother-in-law, why don't you settle his debt on his behalf?” Chris looked up at Walt with a scowl.
  • “Mr. Tucker, he's actually not my brother-in-law,” Walt said.
  • He continued to curse in his heart. F*ck! Five million is not a small sum. Just because I come from the Wallace family doesn't mean I can easily come up with that amount of money.
  • He had previously agreed to lend Heather thirty million if she could accompany him for three days, but the promise was nothing more than a deceitful ploy.
  • He only wanted to get back at Heather and humiliate Alex.
  • In other words, he had no intention of giving Heather any money.
  • “Mr. Wallace, could you lend me five million?” Heather gazed at the man with pleading eyes.
  • “Heather, you don't need to ask for money. I'll take care of it.” All of a sudden, Alex's voice rang out from behind the three of them.
  • “You? A live-in son-in-law wants to solve this issue?” Walt sneered after turning around to look at Alex.
  • Heather's expression changed. She was struck dumb when she saw Alex walk in with Stanley. Oh, God. I won't forgive myself if these men decide to lay their fingers on Stanley!
  • “What are you doing here? Get out now!” Heather shot daggers at Alex.
  • “Mommy, Daddy came to help Uncle.” Stanley spoke in a tender, childish voice.
  • “Stanley, this place is dangerous. I want you to leave now,” Heather whispered while stroking the boy's head.
  • “Send him home!” Heather took a deep breath before giving Alex a murderous stare. “I won't let you off if anything bad happens to Stanley.”
  • After responding with a sigh, Alex brought Stanley out.
  • In any case, he considered the matter resolved, as he had already called Jack beforehand.
  • Just then, Chris' phone rang. “All right, all right, got it. I'll handle this well!”
  • While talking over the phone, he could not help but look around for Alex.
  • Once the call ended, he directed his attention to Heather, realizing that Alex was nowhere to be found. He flashed her a smile and said, “My apologies, Mrs. Jefferson. I wasn't aware that Lucas was your brother. If I've said anything offensive earlier, please forgive me.”
  • Heather was left dumbfounded by the sudden shift in his attitude. Even Walt and Carmen were taken aback, wondering if there was a hidden agenda behind his sudden change of heart.
  • “Mrs. Jefferson, Lucas doesn't need to pay me back the money. I will compensate him with one hundred thousand for his medical expenses instead. No, let's make it five hundred thousand. What do you think?” Chris humbly lowered his head.
  • During the call, Jack had given him a harsh reprimand. It was then that Chris realized just how influential Alex was.
